Who in their right mind is going to campaign to repeal this:
No lifetime limits on coverage
No denial of coverage due to preexisting conditions
Children up to age 26 can remain on parents insurance
Insurance companies must spend 80% of premiums on health care or rebate the difference (people should be getting their first checks pretty soon).

Romney and the republicans can render themselves irrelevant for the next generation by continuing to oppose the ACA.

I hope you're right. Even if Romney is elected, Republicans won't succeed in repeal as long as Democrats control the Senate. I do wish all states had to expand Medicaid. I'll bet many people will move to states that do decide to expand.

This is the reason that I will vote for Romney. This law will cost us trillions in new taxes even though Obama has said many times that this is not a tax.

Did you know the mandate was Romney`s idea?

Oh...never mind

Yeah, why understand the facts and evidence. Easier for conservatives to be spoon fed what to think and believe with misinformation 24/7 from FOX News. The fearmongering you spread with '....cost us trillions in new taxes....' is based on lies and made up crap. That law, the ACA, was created under the rules for "...a dollar in, a dollar out...' concept Republicans institutied during the Bush Administration.

You know what cost us trillions, servant? The second Iraq War! How many of those WMDs did we find in Iraq? You know, the pricinple reason for invading that country, getting 4000+ of our soldiers killed, 25,000+ with long term or permanent injuries, 100,000+ civilians killed? Just put on the map of Iraq (with coordinates down to the second) all those WMDs we spent over $4 trillion trying to find....

But go vote for Mr. Romney, he's the one that signed off on Mass Health, which is what the Affordable Care Act was based on (somewhat). The tax rate has yet to go up here in Massachusetts due to Mass Health's induction to the laws (which is now several years old). In fact, it costs Mass residents just 1.8% of the state budget for this year (which is less than that paid for snow removal). They have 8% overhead for the program; which means the other 92% is spent on patient care (for profit hospitals have 23-25% overhead). When 'The People', servant, create the laws and NOT the corporations, good stuff generally happens for common Americans.

epiphiny43 -> RE: HELLO UNIVERSAL MEDICARE! (6/28/2012 9:58:08 AM)

You do realize the system before Obamacare (Whatever it actually is) had a geometric increase built in that easily exceeds any forecast for Obamacare costs? Keep up? Maybe the idea of geometric increases needs review?
The reason some program got approved was the wide recognition conventional health insurance was completely broken, suffering unsupportable increases every year and not covering over 1/4 of Americans, who largely used hideously expensive and ineffective emergency rooms for primary care? This is breaking hospitals and health programs in every state as we type.
Before he became a scripted running dog for the piratical financial interests, Romney recognized precisely this with the medical program he passed as Governor.

When Congress starts working to make existing programs of every sort work efficiently and effectively for the public benefit as intended and ceases impotent posturing to gain vital micropercentages of uneducated voters in the next election cycle, the country Might have some hope of survival. When one party declares sabotaging any program or national interest is justified if it reduces the chance the opposition continues to have an elected official in office, hope is a silly thing.

And the darkest humor of all is that a Mormon is the chosen flag carrier for the evangelical Christian Religious Right. You couldn't make this stuff up! What happens to Family Values if Polygamy is everyone's' future in heaven? All I get from Morman wives on the question is sour faces and silence. But then Jesus Christ was uncomfortably egalitarian and non-paternal for many anyway.

I want 72 Mormon virgins, but they gotta have big tits, or I am gonna blow me some shit up.

Moroni, god of the moronic mormons.

You know whats weird, is how so many burned out leftist hippies really believe that Obamacare is "universal healthcare" or "universal medicare"

Got any examples of that you can cite, or are you just farting through your teeth yet again?

How is an industry (healthcare) going to cover costs which are rising at ~7%/yr or more?

mnottertail -> RE: HELLO UNIVERSAL MEDICARE! (6/28/2012 12:20:10 PM)

I guess they will begin by shaving some off the lobby now that this is over, as well as pinch a couple bucks on the outsized bonuses of the management, and not lavish so much on their buildings and consider efficiencies in their business.

Yanno, like real businessmen for a change, or they are going to go the way of the carterphone right now, instead of at single payer time.

It's the first step in moving to a health care system from a disease treatment system.

What I think is the true face of the GOP, how now they going after their little darling Chief Justice Roberts...

Here are a few comments

Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA):

With #Obamacare ruling, I feel like I just lost two great friends: America and Justice Roberts.
28 Jun 12

Rep. Louie Gomert (R-TX): “I’m sorry he’s become so cynical. …He expects the president of the United States to lie to him, and to lie to America when [Obama] said — and he had it said on his behalf repeatedly — this was not a tax. For Justice Roberts to say, of course it’s a tax, he makes very clearly that he believes the president is a liar and it’s a sad day for America.”

Rep. Dennis Ross (R-FL) tweeted — and then deleted — the he was “[t]ruly disappointed in Justice Roberts and others who allowed this assault on the Republic stand.”

There are many more, but it shows that if step out of line with their plan for the top1% they turn on you

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

ClassIsInSession -> RE: HELLO UNIVERSAL MEDICARE! (6/28/2012 12:47:08 PM)

I'm going to greatly enjoy watching everyone who is dancing in the streets today finding out that the waiting list for them to be treated for their problems keeping them from getting treated...then we'll see how wonderful this health care is. Or when the government tells you that your kid HAS TO be vaccinated with some new vaccine and he/she winds up keeling over because it was untested and unsafe. Or when they say, Sorry, we aren't going to treat that problem, you're too old to justify it. Or when the premiums go up higher, and you either pay it or pay an increased percentage in taxes (higher than the 1% they claim today.) I just can't believe how many people believe all this b.s. but maybe you just like your ears tickled.

I've lived without insurance for about 8 years now, and I've paid cash for whatever medical I needed. ($6k once for a nice MRSA staph infection...the kind you probably get sitting in a Doctor's office with a bunch of sick people) It's encouraged me to stay healthier and live healthier. Now I grow an increasing percentage of what I eat, sans the GMOs, pesticides and other garbage in commercially grown food. No colds or flus in 12 years.

Good luck with that fantasy.

ClassIsInSession -> RE: HELLO UNIVERSAL MEDICARE! (6/28/2012 1:08:25 PM)

We'll see who's living in a fantasy world. The odds are stacked greatly against you on that one. It's very rare the politicians ever deliver their promises at all, and if they do within the budget they claim. And that's true no matter which side you're leaning toward.

Obama said, when we look back in 10 years...we'll see this was the good and right thing to do ..or some such nonsense...at which point, I thought, you mean like we're looking back on the last 4 years and seeing how much "Change" we got? Seriously, between the last 2 Presidents we've had and the Congress/Senate through it all, it's a wonder we still have a country at all.

All words that mean nothing but sound good. Just like all the promising economic recovery reports...that people believe means we're coming out of a "recession" when even a big government economist, a Keynesian, was sparring on the news with Ron Paul...and said the "Depression" we're in...3 times in the interview...that's right, a "Depression" not a "Recession."

Enjoy all that B.S. you're eating folks, just don't try to kiss me when you're done.

Hardly. You've got a sweeping prediction of total breakdown with no evidence whatsoever beyond your attitude.

Cling to it if it helps you get through the day.

You better get back to class, you are not only out of your league here, but you have nothing to contribute, go get some learning .

Nosathro -> RE: HELLO UNIVERSAL MEDICARE! (6/28/2012 1:17:38 PM)

Universal Medicare may not be so universal, according to the Urban Institute, some 7 million will not be eligable.
