Hiya! :) I'm a huge fan of the series myself, but never read the books, though.

I haven't seen the last episode of season 2 that came out tonight. I probably wont get to see it until next weekend. So what do you guys think?

My favorite characters would be Viserys, Daenerys, Tyrion , Brienne, and Arya.

After starting the books, I had to grab season one on DVD.

Good stuff.

I watched the first series, which was farken excellent. I'm not going to read this thread if anyone's going to give away anything of the plot.

Does anyone know where it was filmed? It looks like either Scotland or the Lake District in the UK, but I can't tell. Sometimes, NZ can look similar.

And isn't the dwarfish guy in it excellent? I understand he won an award for his acting. About time a dwarfish bloke was given a good part to play.

Parts of it were filmed in Northern Ireland...maybe all of it, I don't know.

Anyway, I've only just watched episode 3 of series 1, so I have LOADS to catch up on. I'm excited though! Loving it so far, and having quite a girl crush on Daenerys (sp?).

I quite like that they brought it to N.I BUT I highly dislike that the TV series isn't following the book, might sound silly to some but i adored the books. I don't think they've done it justice in the second season. First one was brilliant. If it wasn't even so close to the book but did follow the correct story line it'd be better. I do think they need to make the seasons longer as they aren't able to fit in most of actual story line. I Hope! they've realized that with this season.

It's too bad we have to wait nine months for the next episode. Very much enjoyed last night's episode:

1) I can't find a good link to watch this last episode...and it's really beginning to piss me off since tonight is the only nght this week I'll have time to watch it!
2) I am also a bit annoyed at the fact that they aren't following the story line this season, though in future seasons they are going to have to embellish some things to get away from the writers original style (unless you guys want to watch the midevil version of food fucking network)
3) GRRM has now made his money and the residuals for him have pretty much dictated that the entire story will most likely never be finished so enjoy what's there and let them take thier time cuz it's not gonna last forever.

Don't hold your breath. They're not going to make the seasons any longer and they said from the outset that the show was not going to follow the books 100%.

My roommate watches it. I've tried but can't get into it. Perhaps because I didn't see the first season?

I was taught that a story should have a beginning a middle and an end. It seems to me that these days they have a middle that is as long as they can milk it for and then an end which makes little sense (if you are lucky and they don't cancel it mid season).

The scriptwriters also seemed to be obsessed with the word 'bastard', they be taking bets on how many times they can cram it into an episode. He's the bastard son of a bastard which makes him a bastard to the power of two.

Now every time you hit your thumb with a hammer you can scream out: 'Mother of dragons!'

actually, they are closely tracking the novels... and doing a good job of it.

Then I don't want to read those books, I'll die of old age before I get to the end.

You don't want to read those books because GRRM is never going to finish the series.

The first two, fabulous, three, good. Four...just an utter waste of time. I will not speak of five, since I didnt bother. There is a lot going on in those books that a good screenwriter could have a field day with, but Railroad lost the plot awhile ago when world building took over. The only truly fleshed out characters in the books are Tyrion and Arya, the rest are stock puppets at this point.

Television wise, there's about three more series' worth of solid material.

Did you read the same book 2 that I did? There was a ton of stuff that happened in season two that simply does not occur in the books. The same general plot is being followed, sure, but the show is killing off characters that appear in book 5.
