Tee hee Viking.  That's what I was thinking when I first read subrob's comments.  Couldn't have said it better myself.

Gerardo can't be racist, he's brown, and a progressive! Didn't you read the memo?

Well to you he probably is Progressive. To the rest of us, he works for Fox. 'Nuff said.

And let's not forget Al Capone's vault.

To his credit, however, wasn't Geraldo the one who blew the lid open on abuses of mentally handicapped people at institutions? I seem to remember that.

A long, long time ago Marc.....New York,Eyewitness News,70's....made him a star and blew up his ego,he was never the same since....lol

Watch out Bill Belichick. I can only imagine him pacing the Patriot's sideline and BOOM.

Yep.

Based on Geraldo "I wake up every morning and curse that I'm Hispanic" Rivera, Bill Belichick is just begging to be shot...

I grew up, watching Geraldo on the Channel 7 ABC Eyewitness News in NYC. In 1972-73 (or so), he was instrumental in getting conditions improved and, finally, getting these horribly out-dated facilities shut down (Willowbrook and Credemore).

His work, in this area is what launched him to national attention.

There is no doubt that in the 70s, Geraldo was a "bleeding heart liberal" and the fact that his views haven't changed but how people now perceive him, speaks volumes about how we've changed, as a society.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Racial stereotypes are what killed Trayvon

Well, that and an armed vigilante who fucking well needs to be in a lock-up, not "in hiding."

daddyneedsluv -> RE: Latest Racist Stupidity From A FOX Commentator (3/23/2012 10:11:06 PM)

It almost appears like the shooter was out looking for this to happen. He had his weapon with him and ready. Definitely smells like vigilante violence with no prior target. He found his target, as we're all aware.

erieangel -> RE: Latest Racist Stupidity From A FOX Commentator (3/24/2012 8:04:03 AM)

For years we have been told that guns don't kill people; people kill people.

Now we are supposed to believe that hoodies kill people.

Nice to see we still agree on some things.

Then some things are just so obvious.

Willowbrook... I remember it now. Well, all I'm saying is that, whatever faults the man may have, he made a positive contribution in the lives of people, ending a gross injustice. That's more than most of us can say.

I don't how much his views may or may not have changed since the seventies although I agree with the notion that society's changing perceptions can make it look like someone has changed their positions. The classic example to me are the Founding Fathers. By today's standards they were conservatives but by the standards of their day they were not only liberal but radicals. A country without a king? Surely you jest?

I don't jest... and please don't call me Shirley.

(Sorry folks, I couldn't resist)

FR
Willowbrook is what launched his career
and it was a admirable thing but I've
never gotten the impression that real
journalists take him very seriously.
He's not a buffoon to the extent O'Reilly
is but he's close.
His reporting style if you want to call
it that is very flamboyant and he's
had a rather notorious personal life I
believe he's on his fifth wife.
And even more notorious than the Al
Capone thing was the special he did
for NBC about Satanism. The network
had to declare it as a product of the
entertainment division and not the news
division. It was over the top and
idiotic.
And his daytime talk show was a Jerry
Springer type sleazefest.
He's only a progressive in contrast to
some of the hardcore loonies at Fox.
No actual progressive would call him
such.
While we're talking about seventies
personalities isn't the shooter in this
story a variation on Bernard Getz?
A guy so paranoid and twisted with fear
and bigotry that he was itchy to
shoot someone?
I'm not sure why hoodies became
connected with criminals in some
peoples minds. I know the Unabomber
wore one and I guess some convenience
stores have been robbed by people
wearing them but still.
I wear hoodies regularly and I see more
girls and women wearing them than
boys or young men.
I don't think it would have married at
all what the young man was wearing.
He could have been in a suit and he
would still have been shot. The shooter
saw a young black man not a guy in a
hoodie.
Hoodies are so common and worn by
all sorts of people they aren't the
new alternative to ski masks or hose
over the head.

And you honestly believe that everyone who works for fox is a racist? You made a comment on another thread about a group of haters who are destroying the country. I agreed and suggested that we were talking about two different groups. After reading this post, I think I was right in that thinking. It's just a shame that you don't see the hate from your side as wrong.

meesekite -> RE: Latest Racist Stupidity From A FOX Commentator (3/25/2012 9:11:24 AM)

Hoodies are frequently worn by criminals; they do obscure the face and I can understand how a young man wearing one who is looking in peoples homes, as he was reported to be, could be mistaken for a criminal. I can see Geraldo's point there. Clothes do make impressions on others, that fact is unavoidable. That is why we dress nicely for job interviews. A woman wearing a hijab or a burka is most likely a Muslim lady. A man wearing a yarmulke is most likely a Jewish man. A young man in a hoodie wandering about the neighborhood in the dark, not on the streets but on peoples lawns... could easily be mistaken for his criminal counterparts who have that as their "uniform".

Geraldo said nothing racist in mentioning what he did.

Every person that has ever jogged in incliment weather has probably worn a hoodie as well. I've personally covered hundreds of miles wearing one.

Wearing a hoodie doesnt make you a criminal, a great athlete or a hated (outside of Massachusetts) football coach.

Unless its really hot outside, I always wear a hoodie, it keeps me warm.. and I bought mine at Walmart.. not the local Gangz-R-Us store.. [8|]

Hasn't even had the balls to deal with the situation like Bernard Goetz did, either.
Small wonder the little pussy likes to carry a gun...
