I'm sure others will continue to comment, and that's a good thing, but thanks. I've never been much of one to "worry" about zodiac signs, although I do harbor some vague notions about one sign in particular. Names, on the other hand, somehow seem to trigger some responses, even though I know it's not fair. I was just curious how others saw that. Thanks for sharing everyone.

No prejudice against names at all, of any sort, whether it's a given name, an internet handle, or whatever.

Astrological signs, on the other hand....well, let's just say it matters quite a bit to me what sign someone is. Not that I would reject a particular sign, but knowing someone's sign actually tells me a lot about someone. I have found knowing someone's sign helps me understand them better. I would say of everyone I know (family, friends, etc.), only a few people do NOT match their sign. The vast majority of the people I know actually match their sign quite well.

I don't follow astrological signs (because I do, in general, think it's all bunk), but...I have to admit. I am 100% Aquarius in every way. It's spooky.

I don't know how others in my life fall into line with their zodiac signs, and it's kind of a strange thing for me to admit because I truly, truly don't believe in it. But yet....here I am.

Weird.

Umm, actually it's not. The one person I have known well who was a Scorpio was a truly good friend. I might have met or known others, but I wasn't aware of their sign.

I just thought of something this weekend with zodiac signs.
Its a great control tool to create different personalities wich are necessary to maintain a prosperous civilisation.
Just a thought from the weirdness of conspiracy.
These days I tend to think there is a lot of things we are missing in thinking about what started something.

Dwight and Dwayne. The only words that should start with those two letters are dwell dwarf, and dwindle.

The twins Dwight and Dwayne were dwelling on their dwindling hairlines which were being dwarfed by shiny forehead skin.

I just can't do it.

Also, one of my names is very similar to a man's name. I always pause when I hear a man whose name is the same in sound as my own.

LoreBook -> RE: Names and your prejudices (3/19/2012 11:56:21 AM)

I can't say I have ever done that myself, though I have heard people say things like that. Never about me of course.*

* Not that I'm not a pain to be with, its just there really aren't many people named Lore.

MrBukani -> RE: Names and your prejudices (3/19/2012 12:03:29 PM)

Lorraine has always been my favorite name.

Lore means laurelleaf.
Lorraine means gifted laurelleaf.
Its also a reference to oral tradition.

I do know a guy who is married to a woman with the same name as his first wife. He swears he's never going to date another woman named that again. Don't know the ex, but the problem with the present one is untreated bpd and severe alcoholism. The problem with him is alcoholism. It isn't the name, it's that he's unhealthy so he picks equally unhealthy women.

Hippiekinkster -> RE: Names and your prejudices (3/26/2012 10:02:51 PM)

It's a weird name, starts with Do and ends with thea and it's not Dorothea. Freakin' stunning... 5'10", straight long black hair to her waist, good figure (was a lingerie model once), looked much like Cher except better... went absolutely psychotic every lunar cycle for about a week. Worst I've ever seen.

No more "J" women. Janis, Jennie, Joan, Janice, Jackie, Jennifer - sorry, babes. Ellen and Elizabeth, I'm ambivalent about.

Pretty much it.
