The sentence in bold is more true than you may have realized.

Disclaimer, the following is a general statement about people in general, and is only intended to apply to society or groups in general:

Frankly, I'd expect that any person who considered or protrayed themselves as 'dominant' should be able to address conflicts of opinions or differences of reasoning, by responding in an egalitarian or better manner, including engaging in direct and civil discussion with the persons with whom they'd disagreed, instead of resorting to situational scheming and leverage. YMMV of course, but to some extent that could parallel in some ways how Limbaugh's rhetorical abuses and subsequent responses evolved during recent events. (And that should, politely, return dialogue towards the OP's topic of this thread.)

Depending on who this was addressed too, it could, indeed, be seen as an attack. You arent addressing the post someone made, you are addressing the poster's ways of posting... in essence, attacking the poster... or, in the case, posters in general.

You do not have to like the way someone posts, and hide is always your option. You do not have to address any poster. From past experience, the politics and religion section was.. bad. Gamma has come in and worked very hard to give everyone a voice without the personal attacks, snarks, and derails. I actually, once again, look forward to reading and posting here because of the work the Mods have done.

Telling someone they lack conprehension of the material is not an attack.

Telling someone they are a dumb ass for their opinion is.

It merely laid out specific critique as applied to a general description of a political demographic.

If your previous post was anything like the post I am replying too, I can see the disconnect. Just because an attack is not aimed at what someone would consider a singular person does not mean it was not an attack on a certain group of posters.

For example...

You statements... they can be tricky and get a post pulled quickly.

"You republicans are all a bunch of hypocrites" will more than likely be pulled. Have to find a better way to phrase that. Many of us have complained about the way things are said, not what is said, just how. Its now getting much better.

As I suggested earlier, your questions would be much better suited, and received, in a private correspondence with the Mod who pulls the posts, instead of publicly trying to insist you did nothing wrong. Trust me, I have done just that, and had to quickly eat my words after a few exchanges, because I did not see what they saw.

Take a few and contact Gamma.

Don't give the proclamation so much leeway or room for discretion. It is a point of pride, which is why it was announced at the beginning. That is the whole point of the Limbaugh show, to shout the ignorance and the incapacity for ever remedying the situation, and commence the braying from there.

It would suit me if this affair had the effect of toning things down across the board on these talk shows and political comedy TV shows. I'm tired of the coarseness and all the basically puerile ranting which relegates any serious subject to either a unilateral shouting match or participatory laugh fest.

Sadly I doubt it. The political schism is way emotionally charged and most people just cannot critically think a problem through and rationally discuss it.

As to Rush, he's stated on more than one occasion he's firstly an entertainer and in this instance he did just that [sm=popcorn.gif] but not in the way he anticipated; Colbert got excellent fodder at his expense. He did it to himself.

Yeah, because condoms and ass fucks are a cure for hormonal (MEDICAL) problems that require hormonal treatments to prevent, for example, heart attacks and death.
You just showed your lack of understanding of the issue. The testimony of the "slut," was that a friend needed hormonal treatments (aka birth control) for medical problems-having nothing to do with sex.
Listening to Rush won't give you that info though, you'd have to listen to the actual testimony or read all the posts people have put on here emphasizing that fact...

erieangel -> RE: Rush Limbaugh, must be so proud of himself... (3/7/2012 8:02:36 PM)

Yeah, and when the friend could no longer afford her hormonal treatment, she ended up having to have a ovary removed--which cost the insurance company much more than a year worth of BC would have.

And BTW, the friend in question is a lesbian, so she definitely didn't need the BC to prevent pregnancy.
