Indeedies. I hadn't heard that piece of history. Thanks. It helps me feel good about despising him. That's not a feeling-of-choice for me, but Rush has just worked so hard at earning it, I'd almost feel guilty in depriving him of a status he covets.

While we are on the subject of Viagra:
In an attempt to sanitise Rush's outrageous behaviour elsewhere, TheHeretic claims that women on medically prescribed health regimens that include contraceptives to prevent conditions like POCS are enjoying "subsidized promiscuity". What, then is the status of men who are given subsidized Viagra under their insurance schemes?

As far I know Viagra is only prescribed for one particular and highly specific medical condition, male erectile dysfunction ............ so precisely whose (potential) promiscuity is being subsidized? I know it's a wee bit off-topic but perhaps someone could kindly clarify the matter for me.

2)Do you think Rush just 'comes out' with his alleged 'humorous quips'? Or do you think they have a staff of writers that provide a constant flow of highly prepared material and what would the implications of that be.

you don't have to answer of course, but given what I have rad from you. I would value what you have to say on the matter.

I dunno... it might be.

All I know is made some very pointed remarks based on a broader analysis he was making and didn't really think it would be taken as more than contrast and a hint that it ought to be toned down in terms of the sweeping generalizations. And instead of a response to that I got a pile of crap 'hater' allegations.
Which... oh we;;, wasn't received with open arms .. gee what a surprise that should be for people who read my posts.

WASHINGTON -- AOL, the parent company of The Huffington Post, has become the eighth advertiser to pull its money from Rush Limbaugh's syndicated radio program since he called Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke, who spoke out in favor of contraception coverage, a "slut" and a "prostitute" last week, according to a high-level Huffington Post source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, but with a distinctly Greek accent.

"At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity," said Maureen Sullivan, an AOL spokeswoman who confirmed the decision. "We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh’s comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show."

Altho, I doubt it will be long before they cancel the suspension

Michael, I used to watch Imus quite a lot. I was sorry to see it happen to him. He was not strictly for laughs. I think that misleads others who are not familiar with him. He dealt with serious topics. I don't think he was hosed. He made a serious mistake and paid a big price. He admits it.

I may have mis-spoke to a degree but, even when he had Sen. Kerry or Sen. McCain on his show (before their campaigns), he would say "icky" things to them (sometimes, right to their faces; not over the phone). I agree that not every subject he covered was the subject of lampooning but, he's had a 40-some year career. He'd have to be serious, occasionally. Even Howard Stern gave up his schtick on 9-11-01.

Over-all, though, Imus was more comedian than commentator and Rush was more deliberate than comedic. I believe Imus used comedy to amuse and entertain and Rush tried to use it to humiliate and ridicule.

Yes, when Rush says anything, he is being quite deliberate.
