oh, Kirata, you're so sorry that I don't like someone who holds themselves above me. I don't accept anyone to top me who thinks they deserve it. I NEVER accept any politician talking head junkie. And, furthermore, I do not, and will not accept anyone who insults the outcome of orthotricyclin. Because I've seen too many women helped by it. Women who were girls, who needed it to control pain that was weeks long.

He's not sorry. Not remotely. But the truly sad thing is that he claims to speak for the GOP...and the GOP Leadership (an oxymoron if there ever was one) refuse to denounce him. Thus, he DOES speak for the GOP, just as many believe that the terrorists speak for Islam, simply because Islam doesn't seem to denounce what they do. It's the Big Lie all over again, told every day by Rush, and never challenged. Hence, it becomes true, or at least accepted as fact. The best Romney, who claims to be and seeks to be the leader of the GOP, said was "not the words I would have used." This guy is a Leader? Not any leader I'd ever want to follow, regardless of where he's going.

Yes. Exactly. Rush in no way retreated from or apologised for his view. He apologised quite specifically for his "insulting word choices". So "slut" and "prostitute" were inappropriate, Rush is saying. Perhaps he should have used another choice of word. Like, for example "nymphomaniacs" or "village bikes" or "cheap fucks" and "sex worker" or "sexual pleasure consultant"......

This is as far from a full apology as I am from being Pope. Rush's apology is so lacking in grace, in sincerity, in depth that it seems grudgingly and reluctantly offered. For mine, if the various advertisers hadn't withdrawn their ads from his 'show' there wouldn't have been an apology at all.

I hope all his advertisers withdraw support from Rush's show, that Ms Fluke sues Rush for every cent he has, and succeeds too, and that this vile ugly obnoxious excuse for a human being gets treated with all the grace he extended to Ms Fluke for an eternity. That is what the slimy sleazy aggregation of trash aka Rush deserves.

For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.

Limpballs did not apologize for suggesting that Ms. Fluke and other women who take contraceptives post their sexual activities online. Nor did he even apologize for the mischaracterization of Ms. Fluke's testimony before the committee. And Limpballs doesn't give a dam that he "created a national stir"--he loves doing so. Limpballs issued that statement for one reason only--to keep more advertisers from leaving his show.

I sincerely hope Ms. Fluke sues his fat ass.

Obviously, it's your prerogative to accept or not accept the apology.

While not apologizing for his views may be deplorable to you, Mr. Limbaugh (as many have said, here) has been paid quite handsomely for expressing those views for many years.

I would not expect him to say: "Ya know, in light of what happened. I'm wrong. Free oral contraception for all!". That would be disingenuous and it would undermine his entire career. Voicing opposition to democratic ideals has been his stock-in-trade for 30 years.

It would be like asking George Stephanopolous (I hope I spelled that right) to denounce the ideals of the democratic party of which he has been a stead-fast member. No one would do that

He apologized for the way he presented his opinion. That's what was "wrong". He's entitled to voice his opinion whether you think he's right or wrong.

IMO, he could have said: "Everyone has a right to have as much sex as they want and they can have it with as many people as they want and I would hope that if they're not ready for parenthood, they would use contraception, if that's their personal choice but, they don't have the right to expect me to pay for it". He could have said that but, because of the absolute hatred we've seen here, directed at him, people still would have been up in arms about: "Everyone has a right to have as much sex as they want and they can have it with as many people as they want ..." So, I would have found myself in a bind, also. People would have been moaning and gnashing their teeth and talking about how that was "code for 'slut'".

Don Imus lost his morning televison program after calling out in jest the Ladies' Basketball team of Rutgers (New Jersey) University as "nappy headed hoes." [one had to be aware of Don's brand of humor] There was a great kerfluffle and Don supported his abject apologies with actions, meeting with Black leaders, etc. Still, the sponsors fled. And rightly. These on air personalities have a duty to their sponsors and a higher duty to the maintain the civility of public discourse. They cannot hide behind the facade of humor as both Imus and Limbaugh have tried to do. Parody is not a defense in either case. I too hope she sues his ass. She will probably have to show malicious intent because she had become a public figure. The jury will have to decide but I think malice is obvious.

I am very familiar with Mr. Imus. I've been a regular listener since 1971 or '72. He just happened to be on the same radio station (WNBC-AM NYC) as Wolfman Jack and my NY METS broadcasts so, I "fell into" listening to him.

He frequently referred to used car advertisers (who advertised on his show) as "lying, thieving weasles" and once (1974 -'75-'76 ish?) called the Lybian Palace Hotel looking for Idi Amin. When the front desk hung up on him, he said: "Operator! Get that woman back. No Ayrab that sleeps with pigs is gonna hang up on me."

He was also responsible for stealing the Soviet flag from the Russian Embassy in NYC. He publicly announced that he'd stolen it and still hasn't returned it.

There's a difference between these two men (to a degree). Don Imus has always said (and done) outrageous things and the way he lived his life (even before the apology tour but, after his sobriety) spoke to the kind of man he is. His tirades were never actually based in animus or malice. He was "having a good time". It might be fair to mention that when he made that statement aimed at the Rutgers team, it was definitely NOT the first time he had used that term. He did it, frequently.

Rush Limbaugh has been a pundit, less of a comedian. He expects people to take him somewhat seriously. "See? I Was Right" as a book title. Yes, he has attempted humor over the years but his whole demeanor has been of someone that wants to be believed and followed, if you will.

IMO Imus got hosed. Rush has been exposed.

1. Nobody is asking them to change doctrine.
2. American Catholic women take birth control. So the church is not trying to fight a war at this point as much as trying to kick the winners of the war that the church already lost.
