And he isn't an elected official so they can claim that he's "just an entertainer", however much politicians who've been democratically elected are made to publicly fawn and grovel to him...

Woot! Go women of America!!!
You think we can get an apology out of Rush? That would be a first I think...

Moonhead -> RE: Conservative leader seeks to turn 98% of american women into sex workers (3/3/2012 9:10:31 AM)

They're more like to get a histrionic mantrum ending in a retraction than an apology.

Lucylastic -> RE: Conservative leader seeks to turn 98% of american women into sex workers (3/3/2012 9:12:05 AM)

Lucy, look at yourself, and don't sell yourself short. Think of some of the other gals on this board. If you picked the right couple of them, and the three of you went to the pope and were "persuasive," you could get him to approve polygamy and marry you easily. Of course, he'd have a heart attack in less than a month, but he'd die with a smile on his face...
But I see your point. Rush apologizing would be a real miracle...

I've always thought Rush was a big fat tub of lard, junkie, moron. And I'm a registered Republican...and a conservative.

About Stern, he's on record supporting Ron Paul.

Not all conservative are homophobic or support the agenda of the GOP. I'm frankly sick of the neocons who have been running the conservative side of the fence.

If you stop and think about it, true conservatism embraces the idea that the government should just butt out. I think everyone is perfectly capable of deciding what they want to do in their lives.

ClassIn Session, personally I feel for the republicans/conservatives who are as gobsmacked over their antics as the rest of us.
Those are not people trying to use the outdated memes to support the positions without supporting the candidates. The fact that there is very very little "support" for any candidate in the running now, on this board says an enormous amount and in big RED letters.
I have quite a few friends who feel very abandoned by their political party right now

I donno...
Somehow I doubt the folks who support Santorum (the state should impose the church's values in the bedroom) would be on this site. BDSM doesn't probably work so well with "traditional catholic values." Well, in some ways it probably does (1950's household folks), but I don't think Santorum's crowd of those folks would come here.
I don't know how many Americans fall into that camp. I hope not too many, but Santorum keeps racking up votes, so...
We will see Tuesday?

This line of thinking isn't even CLOSE to relevant.  Stern has no material Connection to liberal organizations to the DNC or related organizations. Limbaugh however is a very active member of the RNC. He speaks at their events, and has held honorary status on several committees. Also prior to his invitation to the Presidential Box which was a first for the Conventions that a "celebrity had been invited there.
And wiki really spells the right wing leader notion out in spades "Former President George W. Bush has appeared six times on the program. The first time was during the 2000 presidential campaign. Then, in 2004, he "called in" to a live broadcast during the week of the 2004 Republican National Convention to give a preview of his nomination acceptance speech. He called in again in 2006. The fourth time was April 18, 2008, when Limbaugh asked the White House to speak with Bush to thank him for the ceremony welcoming Pope Benedict XVI, which awed Limbaugh."

There's NOTHING even VAGUELY like that you can say about Howard. And there's A LOT of us who just don't have a thing for Howard..

Anyway, my MiFi is blinking and it's freakin COLD up here (4100ft asl)
So I'll catch all you nice folks maybe subday night... I just figured I say hi to everyone and let all the dopes know we gave the whole area a sweep for planned parenthood employees before pitching camp.
PEACE OUT EVERYBODY
Skip

Their Claim Fails

"
"Leader of Republican Party"
Limbaugh was the keynote speaker at the 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference; his speech attracted widespread attention.[79] On March 1, 2009, CBS's Face the Nation asked White House Chief Of Staff Rahm Emanuel who he thought represented the Republican Party; Emanuel named Limbaugh as his choice.[80][81][82]
In remarks aired by CNN on March 1, 2009, Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele said that Limbaugh is "an entertainer" and his rhetoric at the convention was "incendiary" and "ugly".[83] Steele later telephoned Limbaugh and apologized. Limbaugh stated he would not want to run the RNC in its "sad sack state".[84]

On March 2, 2009, Limbaugh responded to Emanuel,[84] and on March 4, 2009, Limbaugh challenged President Barack Obama to a debate on his radio program. Limbaugh offered to pay all of Obama's expenses including travel, food, lodging, and security.[85] On March 6, Limbaugh told Byron York of the Washington Examiner that his ratings for his radio show had significantly increased since he had begun criticizing the Obama Administration.[86]"

It's a good idea... finally something they can do effectively... Sadly though, it will never happen.

Moonhead -> RE: Conservative leader seeks to turn 98% of american women into sex workers (3/3/2012 12:15:52 PM)

Nope. They like the Federalist neocon thang. A lot of the people I remember making excuses for the Chimp's expansion of Federal powers claimed to be libertarians.

QFT....How can you remain a registered Republican and a) be quiet about how your party is being dragged towards irrelevancy .
Or b) not run away from the damm mess ?
Sitting here telling us that you are a registered member of the party of lunacy, does not in any way assuage the very lunacy that at current is being spewed by members of YOUR party.

Moonhead -> RE: Conservative leader seeks to turn 98% of american women into sex workers (3/3/2012 12:44:44 PM)

Of course it doesn't.
This is why all of this whining is so funny, isn't it?

And how do you know that he (or others in the same boat) *aren't* trying to do something about it?

Rush Limbaugh Loses Sponsors After Sandra Fluke Remarks Enrage

Two bedding companies on Friday dropped their sponsorship of Rush Limbaugh's radio program in reaction to the sexist comments the host has hurled at a college student and contraceptives coverage. Two more advertisers followed suit a few hours later.

Sleep Train and Select Comfort issued statements announcing that they would no longer associate themselves with Limbaugh, who called Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown student Republicans blocked from testifying about birth control, a "slut" and a "prostitute" on Wednesday. He went further on Thursday, saying that if women wanted contraceptives paid for by government insurance, they should post on the internet films of themselves having sex.

Sleep Train is a California mattress store, while Select Comfort had ads for its Sleep Number bed run during Limbaugh's show. "Due to recent commentary by Rush Limbaugh that does not align with our values, we’ve made the decision to immediately suspend all advertising on that program," a spokeswoman for Select Comfort told MSNBC.

Those two companies were followed by the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team and Quicken Loans, with both companies saying that they would be pulling back in reaction to Limbaugh's comments and the outrage they caused.

In a response to Limbaugh on Thursday, Fluke said, "We are fortunate to live in a democracy where everyone is entitled to their own opinions regarding legitimate policy differences. Unfortunately, numerous commentators have gone far beyond the acceptable bounds of civil discourse. No woman deserves to be disrespected in this manner. This language is an attack on all women, and has been used throughout history to silence our voices."
