That information like this comes forward is actually a good thing. Mainstream America needs to start understanding what the Religious Right are really about. Something which some of us have understood for decades. The crazier he seems, the more vindicated I feel. Mainstream conservatives will have to be forced to redefine themselves in a way that does not pander to the extreme. I actually see that as a good thing in the long run.

I'm not really worried about the chance of Santorum becoming President. When pigs fly. When hell freezes over

Short answer Polite.....he can't...hence he scares me.The new "Santurom Presidency Culture wars"would tear this country apart.

I don't know if it would really be a change.
I look at the attitudes and beliefs of the South, and I can't see how that part of the US can be part of the same nation as the West and NorthEast. Maybe it would be better to finish the job the civil war started, and split the nation into parts that are less acrimonious. Given the rage, including use of guns, from some folks regarding their political beliefs, getting the sane parts of the US out of the picture might be better for everyone.
Plus, without the tax base of California and New York, the rump US wouldn't be able to afford to start wars or maintain nukes, so the world would be a more peaceful place.

1. You might want to have an actual looksee as to the actual physical location of "Hate Groups" "White Supremacist Groups" and "Christian Dominionists" before you start making blanket statements about us "Poor Racist Right Wing Southerners". You might be surprised as to their physical location.

After all, where do Santorum, Bachman and Palin hail from?

2. What the FUCK is 'the rump US"?

1. Where do Bush Jr, Perry, and Gingrich hail from? I don't think I was talking about anyone being Racist, I was talking about folks who are willing to use violence for political gains, and I grant you that Palin's crosshairs are a good example of that. OTOH, look at my answer to #2.
2. The "rump US," is what would remain of the United States if the hotbeds of Liberalism (the West Coast and the NorthEast) were to leave the Union. This would allow the rest of the nation to pursue the religious state Santorum and friends seem to want.

The other point of the idea is to rub conservatives' noses in the fact that most of the taxes they whine about are paid by liberals, and most of the federal spending they whine about goes to conservative states such as the South and Alaska (Alaska gets about $6 for every dollar of federal taxes Alaskans pay). Take California out of the Union, for example, and it would be able to fix it's revenue shortfall just by collecting the taxes that currently go to the IRS and Social Security, while meeting all current obligations the federal government provides other than defense. Heck, they'd probably have enough money left to support a few aircraft carriers.
Can Georgia make a similar claim?

A waste of time with this sort, Hill. That brand of bigotry is most prevalent in the NE, and certainly the most obstinate.

Active U.S. Hate Groups

The Southern Poverty Law Center counted 1,002 active hate groups in the United States in 2010. Only organizations and their chapters known to be active during 2010 are included.

All hate groups have beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.

This list was compiled using hate group publications and websites, citizen and law enforcement reports, field sources and news reports.

Hate group activities can include criminal acts, marches, rallies, speeches, meetings, leafleting or publishing. Websites appearing to be merely the work of a single individual, rather than the publication of a group, are not included in this list. Listing here does not imply a group advocates or engages in violence or other criminal activity.

If Rick Santorum is the Commander-in-Chief, he will do what no other president has had the courage to do: Declare war on Hell.

Well, it requires that you accept a few assumptions, and you can certainly disagree with my assumptions, which would invalidate my premise:
1. The states of New York, California, Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, and the cities of Chicago, Pennsylvania, Boston, etc. are "liberal."
2. The cost of living in those states/cities is much higher than the cost of living in areas like Georgia (outside Atlanta), Mississippi, etc.
3. People are paid enough to survive in most areas that people live. For instance, California has the highest minimum wage in the US, and San Francisco has the highest city minimum wage.
4. The US income tax is progressive, meaning people who make more money pay higher taxes. However, there is no modification to the US income tax system to account for cost of living in areas.
Given those assumptions, it should be clear that people who live in the states/cities I mentioned pay more taxes, as their base wages are higher to pay for the higher cost of living. Or to put it another way. A McDonalds worker in San Francisco will pay more income taxes on her minimum wage (soon to be over $10/hour) paycheck than a McDonalds worker in Mississippi on her minimum wage (7.25/hr) paycheck.

Scariest thing about that map is it pretty much matches the electoral college numbers. In other words, the number of hate groups seems almost correlated to population.

Um, yeah. If the number of haters is a flat percentage of the population (a decent assumption), then the correlation to population would be exact.

Ahhh,yes..let us voluntarily dissolve the Union, thereby losing the heritage that Lincoln and all of those who died secured for us.
Yeah,that would work

I don't know the idea of not subsidizing the beltway of shame has some appeal.

While searching for stats on that I found this:

Gringrich has given more to charity than Santorum?
Bloody hell. 2.6% isn't even much of a tax dodge...
