omg I saw that... poor guy.. :(

tj444 -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 10:33:55 AM)

I wonder if she would have said yes if it had been done in private..

She seemed quite affectionate to him prior to having a mic shoved in her face..

hlen5 -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 10:40:57 AM)

Maybe he thought public exposure would tip the balance for him?

That was sooooo painful to watch!!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 10:51:42 AM)

Do people still spring proposals? I would think the whole issue would be discussed to death... Poor guy.

yeah, but it tipped it in the wrong direction..

it looked painful for her too.. she physically pushed the mic away.. she seemed quite annoyed/ticked off about it being in her face like that, so much that she then ran off..

TheBanshee -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 7:02:42 PM)

Its a terrible thing but if the subject of marriage wasn't brought up in the relationship before, he shouldn't have "surprised her" with a public proposal, as sweet and romantic as he may have thought he was being.

She has one of two choices if she isn't ready to marry - declining publicly (as seen).

Or ... saying "yes" and faking a happy moment, then declining later in private (maybe more devastating for the guy since he would have thought everything was going so perfectly as planned) - oh, then he'd have to field all the congrats by people and then having to explain they broke up later that night.

Sad.

defiantbadgirl -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 7:13:26 PM)

I don't think it would've been more devastating if she said yes then and no later. IMO that's exactly what she should've done. Break-ups may take some time to get over, but the effects of public humiliation can last for years. I just hope the guy doesn't kill himself.

TheBanshee -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 7:22:11 PM)

He set it up publicly, he was the one that planned it.  She didn't have the luxury of weighing the pros and cons and "what ifs"

Mine made the news in 4 states.

(Unfortunately) she said yes.

Aileen1968 -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 7:52:32 PM)

What guy thinks of a marriage proposal during a sporting event?
I would have turned him down just on the odds of him being gay.

hlen5 -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 10:48:39 PM)

Well, they were on the "Mistletoe Cam"!!

He said from the day he met her, he knew he would propose. I'm wondering how long he's "known it"?

Delilya -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 10:52:55 PM)

Poor dude.

tazzygirl -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/4/2012 11:27:44 PM)

Poor woman.

LizDeluxe -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/5/2012 2:28:55 AM)

From the clip alone I got the impression that she was sending the message "no, not like this" as opposed to "no, I don't want to marry you".

tazzygirl -> RE: Every man's nightmare (1/5/2012 4:24:57 AM)

I wouldnt want to feel pressured into an answer either.

Indeed.

Actually, I've never understood why anyone would want to do a surprise proposal publicly like that. Who'd want his intended to feel pressured in that way? The whole idea gives me major shudders.
