Status: offline 		It's a pity building 74xx TTL chip based micros is so often omitted from any courses not directly aimed at learning VLSI.

Single stepping a discrete 80186 with LEDs for all the internal state is not just instructive, but immensely fun.

Not to mention the feeling of accomplishment when the damn thing boots.

Status: offline 		Inspiration is always good, and all retrocomputing is inspired.

WDC still makes the 6502, you know. Cloning the VIC-20 is a nice place to start before being pulled into things like the 1802.

Insert shameless plug for Magic-1 here, thereby dooming many geeks to itchy fingers and racing minds.
