Finally, someone made electronics interesting to me!

Terriffic, Duskyperls.

Now that you are interested, I can show you very simply how a computer works.

And that is all there is to it.

Any questions?

Final thought. Do NOT divide anything by Zero.

Casteele -> RE: Sketching electronics (1/3/2012 7:31:56 AM)

Hrmm, yanno, that gives me some ideas for some fun with conductive body paints at parties..

GreedyTop -> RE: Sketching electronics (1/3/2012 7:32:29 AM)

my late, lamented Grandfather wuold have LOVED these vids! thanks! :)

Aswad -> RE: Sketching electronics (1/3/2012 8:36:42 AM)

It's a pity building 74xx TTL chip based micros is so often omitted from any courses not directly aimed at learning VLSI.

Single stepping a discrete 80186 with LEDs for all the internal state is not just instructive, but immensely fun.

Not to mention the feeling of accomplishment when the damn thing boots.

Health,
al-Aswad.

Aswad.. you geek ;) *warmest wishes as always to you and yours*

Casteele -> RE: Sketching electronics (1/3/2012 11:03:23 PM)

Okay, Aswad is giving me ideas now, too. Guess I'm gonna have to pull the ol' VIC-20 and breadboard outta the closet again and start playing..

Aswad -> RE: Sketching electronics (1/4/2012 4:52:58 AM)

Inspiration is always good, and all retrocomputing is inspired. [;)]

WDC still makes the 6502, you know. Cloning the VIC-20 is a nice place to start before being pulled into things like the 1802.

Insert shameless plug for Magic-1 here, thereby dooming many geeks to itchy fingers and racing minds. [:D]

Health,
al-Aswad.

P.S.: Digihugs, Greedy.
