Don't get me wrong, David Duke certainly deserves a hot-sauce enema, and Germany's ban of such things is nothing if not understandable, but I get uncomfortable when people start banning ideas, because if the winds change and the wrong person gets into power, MY ideas might get me in trouble.

yes. this precisely. he deserves an ass-kicking, but "hate speech laws" are loathsome and antithetical to human dignity and freedom.

MadAxeman -> RE: Germany sets to deport KKK chappie (11/30/2011 1:27:22 AM)

These are quite recent laws.
Society will probably need to become intolerant of intolerance before it can reach a more idealised and free thinking state. Little steps.

There is a difference between the right to express your ideas and hate speech, a lot of people died because a short Austrian bloke with a funny mustache and haircut expressed the same ideas, the country does everything to not let that happen again, those laws are not new or due to a wind change in politics, those laws have been put in place after 1945, it's not a fairly recent thing DD wasn't aware of, like a new speed limit...

Additionally if they wouldn't have deported him, can you imagine the international outcry? It would be along the lines of "Oh they are Nazis again, they are bending their laws for him." Add to that that recently a Neo Nazi terror cell who committed several hate crimes and murders was finally caught...
http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,797948,00.html

It really isn't about his right to believe whatever he wants to believe, they don't really do mind control, it was about him sprouting illegal Nazi propaganda and trying to ignite hate. I have the freedom to dance around in my own house and chant "fire", I'm not allowed to go into an overcrowded cinema and yell FIRE where it would cause a panic and people might get hurt...

Anybody ever looked at the Visa waiver form the US makes you fill out before entering the country? You're not allowed to enter if you have a physical or mental disorder, you're an addict of any sort, have a communicable disease, or have ever been arrested (you don't even need to be convicted for it) for an offense of crime involving moral turpitude or a violation related to a controlled substance. Technically if you happened to be in a pub or club where a drug bust happened and you were taken into custody just because you were there and they hold you for a while and you are released later without charges, that would be enough. Additionally the US reserves the right to deny you entrance without reason and you waive all rights to review, appeal or contest any action of deportation... They don't have to give you a reason, DD got a reason... What is he complaining about?

MissAsylum -> RE: Germany sets to deport KKK chappie (11/30/2011 5:23:26 AM)

Leaving my Jew-y feelings out if this: you're in another country. You play by their rules.

Tough cookies.

tazzygirl -> RE: Germany sets to deport KKK chappie (11/30/2011 5:37:43 AM)

I thought he was being deported because of a ban from another country.

The point doesnt matter.

Their country, their laws.

He claims his arrest was a result of the gross twisting of travel laws. They just plain dont want him there. And that is their right.

For someone to flatly deny the existence of gas chambers... Maybe he needs a "personal tour"

You produce one fucking victim he created and we can go down there with my guns and whack him. Freedom of this and freedom of that. You want polygamy, no problem, you want deviance, no problem, you want all kinds of shit, no problem.

But when it comes to this he has no rights.

Oh, but it was Germany. OK, well that guy on TV who got axed in Iraq, tough shit, he should've stayed home.

All of you here except VioletGray disappoint me. You fucking make it sound like this guy commited genocide and WHY ? You are as much of a bunch of fucking bigots as the normal fucking bigots ! Disgusting.

And some people have the fucking nerve to bitch that I am a racist. Go FUCK ,,,,,,,,, nevermind.

T^T

Gonna disagree with you for 2 reasons Termy.

1. The guy you were talking about knowingly travelled to a war zone. Knowingly travelling to an active war zone implies that you know and accept the risks.

2. He was killed by the criminal element. Every time you walk out your front door (and in some neighborhoods before you do) you expose yourself to death by the criminal element. He accepted those risks and took them.

Duke travelled abroad knowing the rules were different. He either:

A. Knew the rules and made a conscious decision to flout them.

or

B. Didn't know the rules and got lucky he was only declared persona non grata.

Video: A Holocaust-Denying ‘Rabbi’ on Iranian TV  Charles Johnson

Mon Nov 5, 2007 at 1:02 pm PST • Views: 226 Austrian rabbi and chief of the Orthodox Anti-Zionist society of Austria, Moshe Aryeh Friedman, on Iranian television September 30, 2007. (Courtesy of MEMRI TV.)
Moshe Aryeh Friedman: The existence of the Zionist regime is based upon the belief that they have to destroy the belief in God throughout the world. Another one of their goals is to destroy the other peoples, both physically and economically.
[…]

Every believer throughout the world should fight Zionism. Whoever cooperates with Zionism in any way is, in fact, opposing his own religion. Whoever believes in Islam and wants to support the Zionist regime in any way, rather than to be hostile to it, is, in fact, casting doubt upon the sincerity of his belief.
[…]

We have a great problem. By fabricating lies about the Holocaust, global Zionism has succeeded in distorting historical truth in its favor.
[…]

Throughout this period, in which Hollywood succeeded in influencing global public opinion and creating the myth of the Holocaust, which they interpreted to their advantage, the Islamic Republic of Iran was steadfast, and exerted efforts in the struggle against the global myth of the Holocaust, to the benefit of all the peoples of the world. We are very grateful for this. May God protect you. We are grateful for your support.

Outrageous. David Duke has the right believe in what wants to believe regardless of the FACTS, EVIDENCE, and PROOF that things reality happened. If man wants to believe that the moon is made of green cheese, babies come from storks, or that holocaust didnt happen, that is his RIGHT. It should NEVER be a crime to reject reality and substitute you own based on whatever you want to believe. All you liberals and progressives with your "Facts", "Evidence", and "Proof" can take it and shove it. If man choose to live in a fantasy reality, that should be his right.

He can think whatever he pleases. He can choose whatever model of reality he likes. He can say whatever he likes at home or to his friends. These things are not at stake in this instance.

Duke chose to articulate his hate in the public sphere in a foreign country and that's quite another matter.

No surprise is it that Duke's apologists are found on the Right side of politics, the same side of politics that has traditionally nurtured, defended and promoted racism, and opposed virtually every anti-racist measure adopted everywhere in the West.

yeh well people usually dont protest against what they love now do they?

yeh then there are those over the left cliff who mandate anti nature.

He chose to visit Germany - a country with particular history, sensitivities and laws in this area that he chose to point two fingers at - to articulate his hate in a public place. Germany very wisely declined to offer him a platform from which to spew his hate.

An American parallel might be defending Osama bin Laden's 'right' to conduct a speaking tour in Manhattan .... Is that the type of thing you'd like to defend? No doubt your voice was raised loudly to defend the building of the mosque in NYC ....... yeah sure.

No surprise is it that Duke's apologists are found on the Right side of politics, the same side of politics that has traditionally nurtured, defended and promoted racism, and opposed virtually every anti-racist measure adopted everywhere in the West.

Of course we Americans would have accepted Osama bin Ladin to conduct his hateful speaking tours the United States it would have been easier to assassinate him if he did take up the offer. Check and Mate.

Tazzy, R0 posted up a clip of a Neturai Karta demo of which Rabbi Yisroel Weiss is their unofficial leader. Due to their extreme hatred of Israel, they are often wheeled out by pro-Palestinians (interestingly enough another member of this forum posted up the same link a short time later), to misrepresent what is in reality broad Jewish support of Israel. The Neturai Karta are in fact a tiny minority of Ultra-Orthodox extremists, some of whom have even suggested the Holocaust was deserved as Jews had turned away from their God, and that Zionists goaded Hitler into committing the Holocaust, which earned them virtual excommunication from mainstream Judaism some years ago, and seem to subscribe to the common conspiracy theories that Jews control the world. Not exactly representative of Judaism I would think lol.

Of course Germany wouldnt, they are NOT the GREATEST COUNTRY in the World America. Learn to start comparing Apples to Apples. Has the War on Terrorism taught you anything? America will break its own beliefs in order to achieve its in end goals to make sure America will always be the best.

More than questioned, he was excommunicated, although this was overturned.

The board of the Vienna Jewish community voted to excommunicate him, and has accused him of desecrating the Sabbath by participating in demonstrations. Friedman successfully challenged the schools expulsion in court resulting in accumulating fines assessed against the school until they allow his children to return.

geilematz -> RE: Germany sets to deport KKK chappie (11/30/2011 11:53:29 AM)

Germany expelles him because he is banned from the Czech Republic (which has similar anti-Nazi propaganda laws by the way for different reasons) but since being banned from one Schengen treaty country means he is banned from all of them he would also have been expelled if he were in France, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria and quite a few more from the authorities there.

and those who claim freedom of speech for Nazi propaganda seem to omit that Al-Qaida 9/11 propaganda is banned by US law too if I remember correctly. So claiming freedom of speech for a US Neonazi on behalf of "unlimited" freedom of speech in the USA seems a bit hypocritical to me. Of course every place on earth has its own looneys but this is what looney bins are for.

Duke made a number of statements in support of Zündel and his Holocaust denial campaign.[72][73][74][75] After the aging Zündel was deported from Canada to Germany[76] and imprisoned in Germany on charges of inciting the masses to ethnic hatred,[77] Duke referred to him as a "political prisoner".
