if you want to save humanity from itself then turn technology off, all of it everywhere. Stop using the planetary resources. Then watch the population drop to a sustainable level as the planet renews itself.

Please don't take my mobile phone away from me. I've only had it six months and I loves it...

if life is found on Mars, then that makes it more likely that humans can develop a way to exist on Mars.. worth exploring, IMO, given the current and future population on Earth...

YMMV.

I love space and I do believe that there is some amazing stuff out there, but out there is a really fucking long way away. It is unlikely that we will find some incredible new element on the moon or Mars, and even if we did how the fuck would we get enough of it back here to make any difference?
In the unlikely event of finding something cool "nearby" I think human nature tells us what would happen. Greed, war, politics etc etc
As for life on Mars and us living there? Come on man, total recall was fiction, not a documentary. Sure we could live there, but how and at what cost?
My love of sci fi tells me to seek out new life and bodly go etc but common sense says we have a lot of shit we need to sort out right here and right now before we go pissing around out there

hlen we are doomed no matter what we do...All species eventually perish. Eventually we will be hit by a planet killing asteroid…or a devastating illness, plague, or war…even an overheating planet through volcanic or climate change. It is really just a matter of time before our species joins all the others…Unless… we can spread our species and civilization to other stars and planets.

I’m not talking science fiction or some wild speculation I am talking a certainty.
