I call attention to the "in politics today".

Of course both Anne Richards and Mario Cuomo are smarter than Newt, they've retired from politics.

I suspect Newt has financial problems preventing his retirement ( See also Ozzy Osbourne ) and I wonder if he's so smart, why does he have to raise money by running a fake political campaign?

What gets me if Gingrich is so opposed to the bail out and all, it appears the money he was paid, as well as others, so Fannie Mae could get influence in the government, came from the $169 Billion bail out they got. Gingrich was opposed to the bail out, but it seems he not against getting any of that money for himself.

As asinine an argument as the conservatives who say "If they think taxes should be raised let them donate it themselves". HE wasnt bailed out. HE provided a service. The source of funds to pay him is irrelevant if his company provided value for the service.

The source of funds is very much relevant if it`s the same company newty is bashing.

We wouldn`t be talking about newty and Freedie if it wasn`t for newty`s talking in the the 1st place.

Nothing wrong with lobbying, even for a company like Freedie Mac.

It`s his mealy-mouthed lies and naked hypocrisy that folks are questioning.

It`s also the flip-flop-factor that he`s getting known for.

Flipity-flopity shows insincerity.

Sanity -> RE: Gingrich has a history (11/23/2011 11:26:05 AM)

He never lobbied for them, thats either ignorance or a lie

And he can criticize them, he can praise them, give them a mixed appraisal, and do so from a position of authority on the matter

quote:

ORIGINAL: Owner59

He lobbied for them, helped them do what they did best, till they went down and got payed for it.

Only a cool-aid drinker can think he`s sincere about criticizing Freedie.....his boss.

But that`s who the lame relpy was aimed at.

The average American isn`t buying that load of newt.Lol

You cons have made Freedie Mac a very ,very dirty word.Calling for jail time and prosecutions......serious stuff,hooohh....lol

Now,lol, you`re going to eat one of your own children over "freddie".lol [:D]

You dont think its hypocritical for leftists to wail about Newt Gingriches connection to Fannie or Lobbying etc when team Obama / Team Democrat are packed with former Fannie lobbyists, or executives, all these hated bankers etc

If you dont like the far lefts endless hypocrisy pointed out dig a hole and plant your head in it because thats the only place you might go to avoid being confronted with some of it

If you want to talk about Obama, start a thread about Obama. This is about Gingrich. Please try to stay on topic for once.

Your claim that 1.8 Mil is 'consulting fees' is absofuckinglutely hilarious. [sm=rofl.gif]

It's a bribe. period.

Sanity, how many times are you going to try to redirect the topic when it's shown that the boy you support is a sleaze.

One more time. this thread is about Newt Gingrich. If you wish to start a thread about Obama, do so.

Do try to stay on topic.

Newty`s going to have to prove he wasn`t lobbying/lying.

Shouldn`t be hard to do.

Just open the records and notes and let an investigator(not newty) go through them.We could use newty`s company`s files.

He did after all say, when asked about an investigation..... "bring it".

That is what he is doing according to him.  The company is going back through the records to figure out and explain what the company was getting paid for and when how much and so on and I already mentioned this earlier.   Not a big deal.

Speaking of asinine arguments, you want to defend someone who condemns the very source he earned his money from.

Interesting that you are the first one to start whining about other people derailing threads when you are the one who makes a habit of it.

"Better an older wise man than a young fool."

That is not the choice, at least not with respect to Obama (who I certainly did not and do not support) and Gingrich.  The few times I've tried reading his books or attended one of his lectures, Gingrich impressed me as simply another shallow Washington huckster out to make a buck.   He had his chance in the nineties and completely flubbed it with his very ill considered approach to governance.  That he is also old does not mean that he has learned much with the passage of time.  As Paul Krugman recently put it, "Gingrich is a stupid man's idea of what a smart person sounds like."

Youre an idiot. Gingrich is easily the smartest man in politics today. If I didnt think Romney has a better chance in the general Id be for Gingrich all the way.

And as I recently put it: "Krugman is a smart man's idea of what a fucking socialist moron sounds like".

So let's review, a man who resigned in disgrace as speaker of the House is your ideal candidate?

Good luck with that.

Amazing ... you're actually positioning yourself so that in the likely event sober republicans come forward and decide to pick a candidate they think represents their core values, that you come out looking like you knew what the fuck you were doing then as well,.
Smartest man in politics today... Doesn't say much about "politics today".

Huntsman is pretty sharp.  And, anathema as this may be to conservatives, Obama was President of the Harvard Review - he's pretty damn smart.

Gingrich is smart as far as others are concerned but stupid in his own life.

He may be book smart but he has no clue how the real world works. I dont call that smart. And since he wont release transcripts exactly how much of his Harvard career was due to affirmative action is certainl an issue, especially considering how abysmal his performance is.

Now now, don't avoid the subject by pointing away... the fact is that you are lining uip your ducks... I bet you had a deal like this going at the semi-finals of the Stanley Cup playoffs and I was probably just didn't notice, cause I was actually paying attention to the season as opposed to voting against the Bruins [X(]

Obamas only smart until his teleprompter goes out

He probably only got the gig at Harvard because of his minority status

Show me college transcripts for ANY republican presidential candidate currently running.
This phone psuedo-truther shit cracks me up. The last president you guys hooked us up with spent his college career piss drunk and getting popped by the cops in the summer by Maine cops.

tweakabelle -> RE: Gingrich has a history (11/23/2011 9:59:32 PM)

IF the defence advanced by the Heretic and Willbe is the best Gingrich has ..... heaven help him 'cause there is no way he'll get as far as the White House with a defence that transparent and shoddy.

Of course no one need look any further than his relationships (treacheries?) with the women in his life to get the measure of the man. And if he's happy to treat those closest to him in such an appalling fashion, just imagine how he'll treat those of lesser consequence to him (ie the rest of the USA and the world) ..........

Gingrich for Prez? His history and morality qualifies him perfectly for Prez of Duplititious Philanderers Society. Any position more taxing than that is beyond him, his limited talents and his non-existent code of ethics.

Sanity -> RE: Gingrich has a history (11/23/2011 10:12:53 PM)

Looks like at least one leftist has just made an all-too predictable about face on that one!
