It sounds better there than the school where I work. Our fries are fried, we have salad maybe once a week, I've only seen fresh fruit twice and I've taught there for 8 years, I've seen whole-wheat rolls maybe 3-4 times in 8 years, our pizza is white flour, and our desserts are things like rice krispie treats and ice cream. The only "vegetable" served on a regular basis is corn, which is really a grain. Oh - breakfast is biscuits (traditional ones, made with white flour and lard), fried potatoes, cream style gravy (lard and flour), and fried chicken patties (think giant nugget with more breading) or sausage.

A lot of school lunches have a long way to go.

At least most of us manage to keep our teeth till old age.

I've spent quite a bit of time in the UK and I always keep wondering if you sell toothbrushes there?

I still have nightmares about the rotting, diseased teeth I saw on half the people there.

A prime example of health care rationing. NHS reimbursements are so low that they cant attract competent dentists. When a rare dentist does accept NHS patients they are rushed in and out. A 2006 law change intended to increase access has made things even worse.
