I have been recording vids via my logitech cam.. but each time I try to either play it on RP, or upload to youtube.. it's always a serious FAIL.

I have dne ALL the friggin updates possible, and it STILL fails..

any advice?

let me see that vid then we will talk,

its has to be a a size matter or , a formate matter I think, what formate are you recording ?
try to play it on (google this one) K-light mega codeck back, download it install it play that damn thing on the classic Media player, hope that help

what sort of file is it? what's the extension?

I have no idea.. I cant seem to find anything from the lgitech end that lets me specify an extension.

what extension is on it?

go to the folder where it is and click on view and chose details. there should be a column for type. what does it say there?

ok, that should work everywhere. try re-encoding it.

go to start, all programs, open windows movie maker

import the video <under step 1 in the left pane>, drag it down to the timeline at the bottom and then click save to my computer under step 3, just give it a different name and click through the pages till it saves it and try opening the new movie.

windows movie maker is a shit, but it can be found with in the Windows shit as well

I do recommend, the Sony Vegas or something,

*smooch* thanks Ash!! I havent put it on youtube yet, I'm still trying to fine tune it.. it's clips of my cats being, well, CATS.. involving a large box and assorted kitty toys... I'm trying to get the clips cleaned up (lots of idiocy of me talking to my mom while trying to figure out if any recording was actually going on, and such)

your welcome. now if that worked that means that your fucking cam isn't encoding the vids properly. if you can update the cam software that should fix it. if thats not an option. then i would look into getting a better vid file converter, ash is right windows movie maker is a little cludgy, i only used it because i knew it was on your machine and that it would write wmv, so it was really meant more as a troubleshooting tool, but if you're happy with the results, fuck it - good enough is good enough.

nch makes a good one but its a pay app <their whole audio/video suite is good - thanks for the head's up there pigster>, there are some free ones out there. if i recall, the any-video-converter is ok, i know i tried using it once. freemake comes quite well recommended and sounds fucking awesome, but i haven't actually tried it yet.

if you want more input on the free audio/video software, heather or arpig are better people to ask, i just use whatever the fuck heather has installed, and she and him are always trying new programs. fucking hobbyists!!
