Cept himself if won.[:D]

This is interesting, considering he`s actively running for POTUS himself presently.

This also means that the tea-party(the real one) may not support the republicans AGAIN, this time around.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/06/ron-paul-2012-gop_n_1078471.html

Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) said on Sunday he will not necessarily endorse another GOP candidate if he does not win the nomination, saying he cannot throw his support to anyone with different views.

Paul, a congressman from Texas with staunch Libertarian policies, supports major spending cuts, an end to the Federal Reserve and an end to many federal regulations. If the Republican nominee holds different views, he said on "Fox News Sunday" that he would "probably not" give an endorsement.

"If they believe in expanding the wars, if they don't believe in looking at the Federal Reserve, if they don't believe in real cuts, if they don't believe in deregulations and a better tax system, it would defy everything I believe in," he said.

Supporting a candidate without those libertarian views on small government would be like telling his supporters that "all we've done is for naught," he said.

"It would disagree with everything that we do," Paul added.

That would make sense if he was contemplating a third party bid.  But I believe he just ruled that out.

It would also make sense if he actually knew he was never going to be President.

Paul is hard to figure sometimes because he is religious. He may be thinking about starting a movement of some type, something that may outlive him. He has to know that the President is pretty much neutered as soon as inaugurated. He just got a post heading some financial commitee or something, from there you think he could audit the fed or do SOMETHING. But when they get behind closed doors and the guy with the projector comes out with a film of the JFK assassination......... from a totally different angle mind you..........

He has been in politics long enough to know that. I still think he would make the best President, but he would disappoint as well as all of them have, and that's only on the snowball's chance in hell that he gets there.

The Kenyan's chances of singing a second term seem to be steadily improving over the last few months, don't they?

Ron is a strange bird. I get the passion of his small band of followers and that's great. He's wonderful on economic matters... but like a lot of libertarians they follow that up with nutty stuff. Yeah, making nice with Iran will work. Then they laugh at you while cutting off your head. He's more than welcome to try his hand at the Republican nomination, but frankly.. no way in hell on that guy. I salivate thinking how Cain would bitch slap your hero O'dumbo. ABO: Anybody But O'dingdong.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Ron Paul Says He May Not Support Another GOP Nominee (11/7/2011 4:46:11 AM)

i don't see why he would endorse anyone else. if he did, that would be like saying "i endorse you doing everything i don't believe in."

i admit, i've gotten more familiar with him lately, and agree with him on a lot more things than i thought. =p if he endorsed any other Republican, it would literally make no sense. =p

Termyn8or -> RE: Ron Paul Says He May Not Support Another GOP Nominee (11/7/2011 4:59:14 AM)

Lilly, there are no other republicans in the field.

Are you familiar with the exchange between congressman David Crockett and a Man named Horatio Bunce ?

Google can find it in notime, in reading that you learn what a true republican really is. Even Ron Paul doesn't quite make it, though he is the closest we have.

i googled it; it sounds like Icarys to me. hahaha =p
(note: that is not a bad thing. i blame Icarys for my reluctant rethinking of Ron Paul. hardy har har)

Ron is a guy who is a little ahead of his time.  He is not the guy to be captain of the ships USS Empire Builder or USS Welfare State, but he is the guy you need to rebuild after the ships run aground on their own. And we are just about running aground on both counts.

I don't see Ron Paul as pro-isolationist any more than I see him simply foretelling the inevitable failure of globalism. And when globalism fails, the only responsible course will be to retreat back to within our borders, for the USA to take care of ONLY the USA.  Once the projector operator's paycheck bounces, then things will be different.

Right now, his greatest value is being up there on that stage to be a deliberate contrast with those other socially conservative assholes who are anything but republican.  It makes the audience out there in TVland think about just how far the paranoid get-them-before-they-get-us, empire building, gay soldier-booing party has strayed.

How would Cain do that ? He was a complete failure in business. That is unless of course you think being paid big money off borrowed funds just to lose it all...is a success story.

Ron Paul is the only...only conservative I see in the field. The rest are merely demagogues out to obtain power no matter the various sovereign-threatening policies and are anything but real conservatives.

Yes, he too will be marginalized and even by FOX just as last time. Yes he will be a puppet if elected or he too...will have to go.

You do know however that the whole Crockett vote, meeting with Bunch and the story created around all of that...was a ruse ?

The Crockett/Bunce talk and subsequent speech...never happened and even if true was a 'whig' vote as the republican party did not exist yet.

I hope Ron Paul will run as a third party candidate. With Obama as a total absolute failure and GOP other candidates as clowns from the past without any ideas or even understanding what is going on in the country, a third party with known candidate would have a decent chance of winning. Ron Paul's problem so far has been inability to explain his policies to an "average" voter. A statement: "I am for freedom" is not enough. Freedom is scary perspective for most.

Why do you think it is then that Reagan won in a landslide when by comparison at this point in his first term...things were much worse and by the numbers ?

It's all in your partisan belief system. For example just the same as I am for freedom is not nearly enough, the same applies to...'I am a conservative.' Not nearly enough and few seem ready to prove it.

If 'your' party leaders say it's 'Morning in America again' well then it must be. If your party leaders say the opposition is a failure, well then...he also must be.

So you're coming out in support of Obama ... how marvelous.

As things stand now, Obama will be the next president regardless of third party effort or not.

Right.... I just wanted to make sure you knew what the consequence of a third ticket run by Paul.

Hardly. The economy was worse under Reagan at this time in his first term and the 'propaganda' was that everything was just fine and we were just swimming along. The entire political conversation centered around who would lose to him, not that he was a 'total absolute failure.'

Fast forward to now and Obama's numbers are better, getting better and you yourself come up with just that alleged failure. I very much suspect that you get that from the news and your present, partisan perspective not from an objective historical perspective.
