Have you sir ever been accused of sexual harassment?

That is a question in the news these days. To that, I can answer "yes"

Did I in any way, shape or form harass the woman. "no"

I'll go so far as to say I wouldn't fuck her with the dick of a certain self described "Right Wing Asshole" but I was still accused. Why? I had the temerity to indicate that she should carry her fair share of the workload.

What say you folks?

Upon a claim of sexual harassment, is it:

Innocent until proven guilty?

Is it guilty until proven innocent?

Is it just "Sorry, dude, we cant afford the liability. Go clean out your desk"?

Kaliko -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 5:11:25 PM)

I think we all jump too quickly to condemn the accused. It's often nothing more than variations in people's threshold for sexual suggestion. What may be considered sexual harassment to one is considered normal behavior to another, to the point that workplaces must sanitize their employee's behavior down to bleached out communications lacking substance and personality for fear of offending someone who may decide to sue.

Some common sense is called for.

And...I am one hundred percent, fully, completely in favor of the accuser having to identify her/himself. No fair pointing fingers anonymously. No fair at all. It may make for a safe environment for the accuser to feel comfortable bringing forth the issue, yes, but it also creates an environment of fear for everyone who may one day be an accused.

When I worked for Lowes I told a Dept Manager to get on his knees and suck my dick when he asked me to reschedule a vacation I planned months in advance so he could take his girl to a concert... I was fired for sexual harassment because the district HR cunt happened to be walking by and overheard me.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 5:16:11 PM)

I think women know, a lot of the times, that they can get away with making accusations that have no basis. Women really like double standards when they benefit from them. =p Humans are opportunistic.
I have a cousin who got tangled up in something like this; a girl accused him of something, and it flew through the courts with only very minor evidence and her story, and he got a sex offender wrap for it. Something like that can screw up a person's life from here until forever, but people play around with it like it's a game.

I also agree that the accuser should have to be identified. I don't believe in pointing fingers from the dark.

Being fired for that type of response seems more than appropriate....and that is a blanket assessment .Knowing just what sort of prick you are...they should have sued your ass too [:)]

I never have been accused.  I have also never accused anyone, although I probably could have.  I think sexual harassment accusations have become one of those things that you can really fuck up someone else's life with, justified or not.  I am not saying that sexual harassment claims can't be valid, I just think some vengeful people have also figured out that they are easy to make, hard to defend against, and companies sometimes settle them rather than mess with it.  Employers just don't feel like dealing with it, and even if they don't settle, it is sometimes easier just to fire the accused.  The only way to protect yourself is to be super careful, and I am not always.
An associate just left our firm, not under the best of terms.  She is familiar with employment laws, and represents victims ( or at least accusers) of sexual harassment.  I certainly never harassed her, but my partner and I talk like sailors to each other.  I admit, I am wondering if she might bring some sort of claim about a hostile work environment, especially since we are disputing her unemployment claim.  Hope not.

tazzygirl -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 5:44:38 PM)

If a woman does something to cause the incident... its on her.

If a man causes the incident... its on him.

I dont agree with a woman walking into the end of a joke and screaming sexual harassment.

I worked with a fella who would call the women foul names when he got mad. But, because he was gay, he would play the "gay" card... yes, there is one... so to say that its only women playing that game isnt true.

tj444 -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 5:50:24 PM)

What it is is messy... A company needs a harassment policy that it follows, depending on the severity of the harassment, a warning after the first one, and progressing until leave without pay and firing. Everything in writing, what he said, what she said.. etc..

Some women are sexually harassed even tho the guy doesn’t think he was or realizes that he was (even with just what he says). I remember being 23 or so and walking past the copy room. One of the stock brokers (married and drunk) had the (married) assistant pinned against the copy machine and she was trying to push him away as he tried to kiss her... I think she just put up with it like it was part of the job, I know I wouldn’t have tho. If it had happened to me I probably would have just found a new job elsewhere..

But then, I suppose if one wants to get technical, when I was 20 I technically sexually harassed a co-worker. Yes,.. yes.. I admit it. I done it.. [&o] He came in after a smoke break and smelled of pot, which acts as an instant aphrodisiac on me, I couldnt control myself. I kissed him and then took him home and fucked him all night long. I guess I sexually harassed him but he didn’t seem to mind at all.. oddly enough..

I dont like it when people lie and accuse someone of something they didnt actually do. People that do that are nasty, I would not want them working for me at all.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 5:52:20 PM)

I think what is considered harassment has changed a lot in the last 30 years that I have been in the workplace.  I had things happen at my first job out of college that would have been considered harassment now, no question.  At the time, they seemed normal.

I think that for the most part that is true.. there are always exceptions tho, I have read about Donald Sterling (real estate mogul, attorney, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers) is frequently getting sued over sexual harassment.. [8|]

Just curious.... "Knowing just what sort of prick you are" Do you really "know" the guy or are you just basing your personal opinion and personally profaning the poster because of his/her writings on an anonymous fetish website's political page?

slvemike4u -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 7:16:50 PM)

Just going by his open words....I'm like that,I let people define themselves. How do you go about...tarot cards ?

JanahX -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 7:20:38 PM)

Ive never been accused of sexual harrassment ...
but
,,, Ive been sexually harrased.

Never again will I work around guys without my smartphone on me .. so if it ever happens again, I can record the conversation.
Either the company can decide what action they will take .. or my lawyer can. ----> It's really that easy.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 7:25:07 PM)

An incident I am thinking about was about 20 years ago before smart phones. A coworker was unhappy that she was being asked to work just as hard as everyone else so she deceded to get rid of the problem. Just file harassment charges.

slvemike4u -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 7:26:12 PM)

If you have it on tape, bypass the company and go right to a good lawyer....than you and your lawyer can go to the company.Always good to have someone whose sole interest is yours.

Hey, I sense a business opportunity!
If I were in the job world I'd do them first!
"Hey Boss, that secretary over there grabbed me by the crotch!" "I feel cheap and used and whatever all those other things they say."
So you get a lawyer and he talks to their lawyer.
Then you go into your boss' office and say; "Hey! I want councillingl, I'm fuckin' suffering here with low self esteem!"
"And a bunch of other shit too!"
So you and your lawyer get a nice payday, cos. start to go back to "one sex shops" and the Cadillac dealer knows you on a first name basis!
"Ah, Popeye, nice to see you again, did you snag another lawsuit for sex discrimination you scallywag you!"

No more than I know you...care to hear my "assessment" of you ? [:)]
Let me ask you something( after all I have answered your questions) FDD ....what would you think of someone who,due to some scheduling conflict that could have been taken to higher authority, asked you to get on your knees and suck his dick?
Are you sending that guy a christmas card ? If so,is that after you have swallowed ?

KeriB -> RE: Sexual harassment (11/3/2011 8:58:50 PM)

I'm torn on the whole the accuser not being able to be identified. I think at some point maybe they should be, but in the early stages I'm not so sure. I was assaulted by my boss during my first job, granted I was all of 17 and was very naive about many things at that time. I was embarrassed and thought it was my fault, now I see it for what it was.

However, I do have an issue with people just accusing someone because of their ulterior motives.

Don't let a lawyer hear you say that.
