Thieves steal truck with President's equipment

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – NBC12 has uncovered one of those stories that makes you think: "How in the world does that happen?!" A truck filled with President Obama's podiums and audio equipment was stolen in Henrico just days before his visit to Chesterfield.

We confirmed an investigation with the U.S. Defense Department. There are still a lot of questions. The biggest one being did the thieves intentionally target the President's truck or did they take advantage of a crime of opportunity and give a big "uh-oh" when they saw what was inside.

When you see President Obama speak, there is a pretty typical setup including the presidential seal on a podium, the see-thru Teleprompter and a portable sound system.

There are just so many things to say ....

If the Republicans had moved on ONE JOBS BILL ( as opposed to all the anti-woman's-reproductive-freedom legislation they've been masturbating to ), then maybe people wouldn't be so desperate they need to rip off AV equipment....

I'm surprised all that government equipment wasn't equipped with GPS or LoJack.

Maybe that's the recovery plan they have in mind... "If it ain't nailed down, FUCKIN STEAL IT! And we'll give you 20 cents on the dollar" and by January Erica Cantor will be on Fox and Fiends saying "And we've saved the tax payer close to a trillion dollars by being more conservative with security expenditures and switching to 'reconditioned' electronic equipment as opposed to 'new in box' purchases".

This is a pretty serious WTF sort of situation, to my mind. This is equipment that will be in the immediate vicinity of Obama, and it just wandered away??? If someone was able to steal the truck, what prevented someone from getting into the cargo, and tampering with it instead? I won't speculate on possible ways someone could cause harm to our President with such access, but I hope some heads roll over this.

I suspect it's a couple of boneheaded crooks who will absolutely crap when fifteen SWAT teams descend on them.
