Status: offline 		Tazzy, if we are talking about equipment that gets within feet of the President, including the podium he might easily be touching repeatedly during a speech, that would certainly seem like someplace they would exercise a heavy degree of control and supervision.

Who knows. With this administration, maybe the transport crew were all on a union mandated break, or something.

All of the equipment that gets ANYWHERE NEAR the man is controlled by the secret service uniformed/tactical division. They in fact are the real meat and potatoes of the modern secret service. for short distances it gets trucked and for longer distances they fly in a special issue Lockheed. I'm actually surprised this could've happened. When my bro ran the show, I couldn't get a tape deck into the Tennessee inaugural ball even... too bad too, cause where else will you see the Nashville Allstars, Paul Simon, Bob & Rob, and Lou Reed all on the same bill.
   I sent an email to Artie to ask him if he knew anything about it. I'll let you know if he says anything. I do know that just through the seniority system, the next guy up was a kind of a jerk.
   But these guys exist ENTIRELY independent of what President or staff are 'in" at the time. So if they save the world, it's their big event. If they fuck up, it's all theirs too.
Such is life.

somebody fucked up..now whether or not it is an actual matter of Presidential security I do not know....and I haven't enough information to make that determination.Given the SS well known ( and appreciated) reticence for discussing and security arrangements involving the chief executive we will never posses enough information.
