These cops were mean: laughing under their breath, asking us about what we were "doing," telling us it was too late to leave, telling us to remain calm, etc.

I find the type or rhetoric above to be one of the reasons it is hard to take some people seriously. Do you really believe the police were laughing under their breaths and making fun of them…yea I’m sure every cop there could not wait to be called to make these arrests…and oh the insulting demands made by the police…you know…” please remain calm“…you are under arrest. Terrible…a violation of their rights as trespassing rioters…how dare they speak to us that way…. POLICE BRUTALITY…POLICE BURTALITY…DOWN WITH PIGS…ON WITH THE PARTY….I mean…REVOLUTION.

You didnt read the link.

Also there....

Certainly the arrest was a big moment. But all of the interactions with the police and seeing what it was like to be processed etc. was really eye-opening as well. Aside from the cops who arrested us, many of the cops we interacted with told us that they "commended" us and were proud that this movement is happening.

Again, no one said anything about police brutality.

kdsub -> RE: Illegal to close a bank account? (10/17/2011 12:19:02 PM)

I quoted what you posted...if it were not true then why say it?...Were they mean and laughing under their breath ...OR... were they commending you...one last time maybe to get it straight...which was it?

Ummm... first, do you need to be spoon fed?

Second.... you seem to not comprehend what was posted to you.

Most of that seems to support the idea that these folks picked the wrong way of making a point, that being protesting inside a place of business and refusing to leave when asked to.

That pretty much makes it a non-story to me, as the same action could and likely would be applied against anyone causing a disruption at a business. It definitely doesn't make it worthy of headlines that make it seem like they were unduly assaulted and arrested for doing something as simple as closing an account.

No doubt all that will play out in court.

I dont recall anyone saying they were assaulted.

Two things stand out, if you go to BofA to close an account, do not bring any friends or family. It is semi-criminal.

The other, I wonder if the 'accomodated' closer was arrested or given a toaster or other parting gift, and let out?

Simple thing stands out, if you want to close your account, then close it. Don't walk in and start preaching to the world about your student loans or anything else for that matter.

It's not the closing of that's the problem. It is occupying a place of business, refusing to leave, and protesting while inside it.

Come on Ron, this is as close to a non-story as it can get. It doesn't deserve the scrutiny, nor the sensationalistic type of headline. I've no desire to come down on citi's side - which I believe posted a huge profit this quarter, but hell fire, this type of thing goes no where and honestly, demeans the rest of it.

I just read what you posted...It is in black and white ...you called the police mean and laughing under their breath… I just want you to look at those words closely again and tell me if they are true or did you want them to be true to enhance your story.

I could see one… or even two police being inappropriate but not a group in this circumstance...Tazzy it just does not ring true and I don’t believe it fair.

I don’t believe you are the kind to make things up on purpose so if you again say it is true then I will believe YOU believe it true but I will still not be convinced you have it right.

I didnt call them anything.

That post you refer too was a quote from an article written about one woman's first hand account. The link is beneath the quote.

You nailed the real issue. They were clearly in the wrong. No they weren't violent, didn't push people around, but they did essentially occupy a place of business, then refuse to leave. By making a big deal out of it, what they're going to end up doing is teaching people to second guess everything they do.

They were protesting outside (apart from the ones who were dragged inside by security).

tazzygirl -> RE: Illegal to close a bank account? (10/17/2011 12:57:31 PM)

Some were inside Moon. They dragged one woman back inside.

Moonhead -> RE: Illegal to close a bank account? (10/17/2011 12:58:38 PM)

So she was leaving, and they dragged her back in, and now they're acting arsey about protests on their premises?

tazzygirl -> RE: Illegal to close a bank account? (10/17/2011 1:00:34 PM)

She left when asked. Others remained inside. The doors were locked when the protesters finished and tried to leave.

StrangerThan -> RE: Illegal to close a bank account? (10/17/2011 1:00:56 PM)

Watch the other video, the one from inside. "They" in this case are the police after they arrived.

And now Cabincr3w has hit Citibank.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-27080_3-20121500-245/citigroup-ceo-targeted-by-hackers-over-protest-arrests/?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=InSecurityComplex

The data on Vikram Pandit, Citigroup chief executive officer, includes phone numbers, address, e-mail address, family information, and some legal and financial information. It was released by CabinCr3w, which is affiliated with the Anonymous online activist group that has been active in the month-long protests.
"During Occupy Wall Street, protesters had made way to CitiBank to withdraw their funds and close their accounts," CabinCr3w wrote in a statement. "They were met with strong police presence and arrested. We as American citizens MUST have full control over our money and livelihood. When this is taken away from us, what else do we have? So the CEO of CitiBank has blindly jumped into the sights of the CabinCr3w..."

~FR

Ya know, its curious there wasnt this outcry when the tea party did the same thing.

Guess its ok to protest inside a business for some, and not for others.

Termyn8or -> RE: Illegal to close a bank account? (10/17/2011 4:01:36 PM)

Taz and others :

This is the first time I have typed these words :

tea party

See this is your game, the game you play as pawns by your manuipulators. If it could be said that I play the game it would be as one of them. You see what you see, what they want to show you, and you get emotiional, and this is rediculous. WE make money off of you buying those little flags saying "Support our troops".; and WE buy them from China and they have lead based paint in them. You just didn't notice because we kept you busy with a bunch of other shit. You buy what WE tell you to buy. WE made the pet rock guy rich, not you. You are putty in OUR hands.

You will apparently NEVER understand how the woprld really works. Mail me if you do. The world is run by people with the power to run the world. At no time in history except the times of true anarchy has the common Man been in a position of real power. He has thought so, but been proven wrong many times. The common Man IS the common Man because he does not understand the workings of society, politics and finance. He sees the world through his own litttle window, not ever comprehending the big picture.

And now, neither do the experts. Their greed has gotten to the terminal stage. You ever go to a meeting of addicts ? They say the addiction is terminal. It's a bunch of shit because beat it or nit it is a part of you until you die. The addiction will not kill you unless you have some other problem(s).

But they now have control of your health, your retirement and alot of other things. Not mine.

Not mine, your government is not mine. I will reach out to Arabs and shit, and say that I do not support what this govrnment is doing. It is not right. The banks ? Mostly Jews. Throw the Arabs out and them too, the race does not matter.

Yes, I am a separatist, but as the others I am not quite sure who I am a separatist with, or apart from. Human nature has made that quite difficult to figure out.

And now, as of the beginning of 2012, I will not be reachable anymore. Unlisted phone, hidden email, spoofed IP, the works. My house will not be and threfore I will not be here. I take my money into a cave somewhere or something.

This society disgusts me and I am goig to do everything I can to stay the fuck away from it. I will help if I can, but there ain't much I can do. You know that.

T^T
