DeviantlyD -> Dreams... (10/8/2011 4:25:04 PM)

During sleep, I dream all the time. Most of the time I just remember whisps of them and not the whole enchilada. I've dreamt in colour, in black and white, and in certain weird combinations. I've dreamed with smell and without. I have yet to experience a lucid dream (although I'm working on that). I've also had these incredibly weird dreams where it feels like I've woken up from having a dream (nightmare usually and so I'm relieved I'm "awake"), only to wake up a short time later and realize I wasn't awake, but I had still been dreaming.

All of those aside, have you ever had a dream so vivid, so realistic and so involved that when you wake up, it's as if it really happened and while the events may not continue outside of the dream, the feelings that evolved in the dream continue? I've had those dreams sporadically and the feelings linger, sometimes for days. I can never recapture those specific dreams though. One time I tried...I was able to fall back asleep and the dream did sort of continue, but then it morphed into something else.

I had one of those dreams last night. It's how real they feel that I can't get over.

What about your dreams? And, have you ever had anything like I've described?

I rarely remember my dreams.

It seems that the only time I do is when I'm under a lot of stress or something is really on my mind and then I seem to be more vivid so I remember them.

Last night I dreamt that I was taking my Cisco class final and the words on the paper turned into a language I couldn't read.

i remember most of my dreams, and they've always been pretty vivid.
i differentiate between what i call inside dreams, which come from me, and outside dreams, which i feel are influenced by something/someone external.

You could probably benefit from lucid dreaming. From what I've read, many people use it to work out problems, or use it as a means of practising for an event. I read one story about a woman (a pianist) who was always nervous performing in public and feared making a huge blunder for an upcoming recital she had. She was able to lucid dream and in those dreams she performed in front of a huge audience. By the time of the recital she was relaxed, focused and was able to play the piano beautifully. Apparently lucid dreaming can be very much like a dry run, but without the entanglements of real life issues impinging on it.

Last night, I had a dream that they had to shut down the Mississippi River Bridge,
(a bridge I barely tolerate) because a ferris wheel (something I will never get on)
that was being transferred from one fair to another collapsed at the top of the bridge.
You'd think that even in dreams, I would recognize that these were good things.
Buh bye ferris wheel! So long bridge!

But nooooooo. It turns out to get even worse, as I was forced to take the I90 bridge
(a bridge I died 100 deaths on on my first and only trip over it)to get back and forth.

Sometimes, dreams are far too real for my liking!

And then, there are dreams that are so pleasantly real that I'm left blushing for hours. [:)]

Do you always recognize what makes an outside influence?

Amazingly enough I've had very few erotic dreams...or at least erotic dreams that I remember. ;)

So I wonder if the bridges dream is symbolic. Either way, have you figured out what prompted it?

I used to put a condom under my pillow in case my (girl) would come out & rescue me from my boring life.
the funny thing is when I tired of waiting, & the condom become in the trash (unopend) Surprisingly she come.......

& when I wake up, I sure Damn that second that I woke up because her sweet saliva is in my mouth I can taste it.....
& her smell is all around me, I dont shower.... & from time to time I smell my own fingers trying to smell her (untill they smell like cigarettes again).
Its almost the nice 2-3 hours of my life, Living on her memory, trying wishing that she may visit alot more often,
but I think she keeps me away from the edg " I Only come when you least expected me, When you are so close to fall".
her Lips taste like Cherry, her Cheeks teast like Green Appls...
her hair smells like fresh Mountains water,

I can Go on & on & on about her, but I will not tell you anymore about her in case one of you tell her that & she wont come anymore.....

the Girl is recurring, but the whole dream is different each time......

ProlificNeeds -> RE: Dreams... (10/8/2011 8:37:18 PM)

Most of my very intense and 'real' seeming dreams are the nightmares. I've had them since I was little, they come and go, and often leave me very rattled, but they seem to have no corresponding element in my real life that I've yet determined. They're always highly fictional, which I do blame on the fact I read and watch so much fictional material when I choose books or movies.
The odd part is though the dreams are rarely about/involve me, I often watch them as a third outside observer to some sort of story.

SoulAlloy -> RE: Dreams... (10/8/2011 8:37:31 PM)

I've had those kinds of dreams where you dream you'd woken from dreaming, I used to have recurring dreams a lot as a kid too.

The weirdest dreams I find are the ones where you don't recognise anyone in them, but identify with a character in them. I once dreamt there was a guy at a party, having lots of fun. Then he left, and noticed a hobo on the train tracks. Seeing that a train was coming he shouted to the man to run, get out the way. In doing so the man was hit by the train, losing an arm and a leg. Looking ahead he could still see the hobo, and shouted again to run. The hobo limped down the tracks, huffing desperately as the train appoached... And then I woke up.

The kinky dreams are a lot of fun though ;)

DeviantlyD -> RE: Dreams... (10/8/2011 9:01:39 PM)

It's interesting that you mention that SoulAlloy because I've found that my recurring dreams were as a kid too. One had to do with the evil spider. *L* And the other was, from what I understand, rather common in kids' dreams...a sort of flying dream...although I floated more than I flew.

Yikes! What a horrific dream! I don't really have nightmares much anymore. More so as a kid.

RexDarcy -> RE: Dreams... (10/8/2011 9:39:25 PM)

I remember at least two dreams a night. Most of the dreams are extremely vivid. In the dreams that are most vivid, I can touch and feel (physically, mentally, and emotionally) almost the same as I do while I am awake.

ashjor911: have you tried pre-occupying your mind before sleeping so you aren't thinking about the girl? I wonder if you can get her to visit your dreams more if you do that.

i usually can; it depends on how i feel in it, who is there, and how it plays out.

my ex boyfriend and i both had a dream that we left our bodies and visited each other - it was an international LDR. we had the same dream about the same things happening.

i mean, without sounding too loopy, i do believe in things like out of body experiences and such. i've had a few of them with relatives or close friends.

after M died, i visited a house he lived in wherever his spirit was. i went to that same house several times, and other friends of his also dreamed about the same house, without me telling them about my own dreams.

those sorts of things have a different feel to them than the off-the-wall or erratic nature of "regular" dreams, when my brain's just blowing off steam. i have a lot of lucid dreams when i realize that i'm dreaming and fiddle with stuff and try to change what happens. sometimes i get stuck in the really bad ones, no matter how lucid i am, i can't get out of them -- M told me once that when that happened, i could send an SOS and he'd come and get me, and sure enough he could do it. it was weird. =p he'd even remember it when he woke up.

HannahLynHeather -> RE: Dreams... (10/9/2011 12:54:50 AM)

i have very fucking vivid dreams, but they are also very fucking unpleasant. that's one reason for my insomnia, sleeping is often a bit of an ordeal rather than something to look forward to.

Lately some silly romantic ones.

But usually it is being hunted in a field with tall grass by gigantic spiders... that are pink.  I don't know why they're pink but don't let that fool you in their sheer terror.

Spill! I want the details. *grins* Don't mind me, I'm hormonal. Even the guy stocking the gluten-free stuff at the grocery store made me wet my pants. :D

As for the spider dreams. I'd say it's about time you grew out of those. :P

NocturnalStalker -> RE: Dreams... (10/9/2011 2:31:16 AM)

It's lame.  I'm a lame guy.  Too soft.

DeviantlyD -> RE: Dreams... (10/9/2011 2:48:43 AM)

You're too soft? *holds back from snickering* I'm so sorry to hear that. I hear they make a pill for that. :D

Edited to add:

I still wanna hear the dream though. Indulge me. :)
