moreroom4u -> nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 11:03:15 AM)

would it be fair to say that any profile on collarme that has a profile essay that begins with the word..."am"... would be a nigerian scammer ? this inquiring mind would like to know if this has been the same discovery to others ! thank you for your time !

littlewonder -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 11:06:55 AM)

...or a person whose native language is not English or someone who is dyslexic or someone who is just bad at typing or grammar.......so I guess my answer is "not necessarily".

or someone like me that tends to shortcut words? I do it online and FTF..

There are plenty of people here with horrific writing skills, some even claim to have a degree in "honors English" so that's a poor barometer to measure whether or not someone is a scammer.  The easier way to tell is if they ask you for money.  That's kind of a dead giveaway.

Wow... I find it amazing how enlightening you are in sharing this deep thing with us. How about someone that doesn't use capitals when they type? I think that could be a sign of something... maybe the same red flag thing that 'am' says to you. There are far better ways to see a scammer. Poor English is just that and believe me, one doesn't have to be a scammer to use poor English or educational skill sets.

As for your right way or what was it... the natural way that we native Americans think it is... which is different from the view of others calling what we do bdsm... you really are impressive.

Scammer or not... you really make no sense in my opinion.

not necessarily op.

Am looking for a well pocketbooked male. (in that case, prolly use of am is indicative).

Am a 34 year old waitress from Dismal Seepage, Iowa (as an opener is not enough data).

maybe not all of us have computers that have functioning shift keys !thanks for noticing however ...have a great day

Anaxagoras -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 11:26:54 AM)

I noticed some female profiles look like a copy and paste job from vanilla sites, e.g. "I like to pick daisies when the sun sets" etc. with no reference at all to BDSM so they could be scammers.

BTW I keep getting emails from a Mr. Ban ki Moon offering me $1,000,000 US dollars in compensation due to the Nigerian scammer menace. I haven't replied to him yet but it looks like "I'm in the money".

littlewonder -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 11:34:59 AM)

huh...when I was still looking I never ever had anything about bdsm in my profile. It was as plain and "vanilla" as one can get.

I guess I was a scammer.....now can I have my money? Thanks.

seekerofslut -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 11:35:30 AM)

Asking for $$ is a dead giveaway, though I'm curious why some, even in their profile, try to move over to ~YIM immediately.

It wasn't so much that there wasn't just nothing about BDSM because I know some profiles are like that - it was mainly the odd way they were worded, sort of as if they were templates for dating profiles, as per the example I gave.

moreroom4u -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 11:44:09 AM)

Hillwilliam -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 11:45:14 AM)

You folks need to hang out on this side more often. Start at the intro thread for your welcomes and come on in.

littlewonder -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 12:37:34 PM)

Caps lock does not create a "!". You actually have to use the shift key...unless you have a different keyboard than the rest of us.

Maybe, unless of course it was followed by the words "a lam a ding dong".

moreroom4u -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 1:03:08 PM)

it just may be so ...i do not have any number keys even on this. as it is soft and can be rolled up into a tube for traveling. it is aging and has a few short circuits in it . this is the first time ever anyone has taken the time to complain about it .except when the caps lock would not turn off for a while AND EVERYONE THOUGHT I WAS YELLING .

Lockit -> RE: nigerian scammer profiles common wording (10/6/2011 1:22:05 PM)

Maybe all those you think are scammers have the same keyboard you have and they can't type the letter i for some reason.

Look, I read your profile and your post here was pointing a finger at people that could or may not be scammers. Yet, you have your own issues with how this or that should be done and then when you are questioned or it is pointed out to you... you have reasons for your justification of whatever. Bottom line, you look about as scammerish or fakish as many others could look.

You want people to join your poly situation and be a work horse basically... call it the natural way... and can't afford a friggin keyboard? So what? Are you looking for cheap farm hands that are supposed to trust that all will be well, when you can't even afford a keyboard? One doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to think something might be up with that and caution might be a good thing. Take this as an insult if you so desire... I see it as calling it like I see it. No one has to agree with me and you don't have to defend yourself... but... I am who I am and do what I do and it is what it is... my opinion.
