Nosathro -> The American Inqustion (10/6/2011 7:53:06 AM)

There has been growing questions about how the US Government conducts it war an terrorist. Take the most recent killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, a US Citizen. The White House annouced that he was killed in a planed attack. Who approved the killing of a US Citizen without a trial? According to some a panel in the White House National Security Council has created a Death List. A list of people they believe should be killed. The President is notified but he does not have to approve it. The Justice Department also reviews the list claims justification under international law and Congress permitting military actions against terrorist after 9/11 attack. In the death of al Awlaki there has been alot of questions, first off al-Awlaki was until now, did nothing more then make propaganda speeches. A second US Born killed Samir Khan was also killed in a drone attack operated a newspaper. In both cases The White House attempted to use these killing to show Obama was tough of terrorist. As questions started to be made the White House added that both had become active in planing attacks, however nothing has been produced to prove this, even the White House spokesman say the evidence is patchey. They have even changed the justification of the killings to the "President must be protected". Now the White House is saying the killing were "collateral" that the killing were not intentional. I wonder who is going to be nexted?

Off in the land of Gor while the Patriot act has been voted into law, modified, renewed, etc?
Course now, it's such a big frigging mess you'll have trouble finding your answers, and then there's the so-called 'secret patriot act' alluded to with all the weird USC Cites that seem to lead in circles... Shit ... were you out of the country?

I'm sturprised there isn't more interest in this story, Nosathro. Maybe you needed a catchier thread title. I bet "Obama's Real Death Panel" would have gotten some hits going.

It's interesting. We target individuals for death by remote control, so there had to be a process for who gets put in the crosshairs, but even these sketchy details are an improvement over what we had.

War on terrorism. You put on the terrorist uniform, you are fair game.

The Answer? Next time someone flies planes into a building, don't write congress a blank check signed "My Civil Rights".

Or even better? Next time it's the year 2000, count all the chads![:D]

All of this was facilitated by the passing of Patriot II.. Previous administration probably had hope of doing the EXACT same thing this president is doing now. In fact while Dick Cheney called Obama a Baaaaaaddd maaaaan... he didn't criticize the killings. Why? They did some of their own in the form of killing insurgents over seas, some of whom had had dual citizenship where were all you guys during the bush administration. Personally I have no issues with killing a guy who's personally recruited hundreds of young people with never mind WHO THEY HURT AND KILLED, ended up dead themselves. The one thing nobody is saying is that he is innocent. US Intelligence DIDN'T misidentify this guy.
If someone can demonstrate otherwise I am all eyes and ears

If all's fair, then all's fair.

That means 9/11 was OK. We justified it. Happy now ?

It was wonderful news that Bin Laden was caught. What troubles me is they had an opportunity to take him alive. Life is sacred.

Ya'll want to have a ball over the "revolution" starting on Wall Street, and stay in denial about where the great socialist revolutions of the past have wound up?

Yeah, you probably think it should work that way.

Too bad.

yep thats the problem with being a fucking lefty righty.

while people like myself who think with or heads rather than our asses were screaming about all the bullshit surrounding 911, no bonafide evidence and the perils of the patriot act the isle tards were rooting for their team fuck what it really meant.

well now after the fact, now that we have the makings for a stalinist regime they can all look back and realize what complete vacancies between the ears they really are.

No matter how anyone wants to crack it up, bin laden was not capable of pulling off this level of fakery.

Invincible fucking beer can?

I mean come on.

when people buy into that kind of bullshit they get what they deserve, a gubafia that is a million times more fucking corrupt than they are.

in fact many of these pics that are released by the gubafia have a little devil face hidden in them.

The trademark of the asshole who photoshopped them.

In other words the people who do this shit are laughing their fucking asses off

StrangerThan -> RE: The American Inqustion (10/7/2011 4:35:53 AM)

I flew on one of the first commercial flights when air travel returned after 9/11. There were 4 people on my plane. The flight attendant told me they'd had 16 customers all day. The concourses at Atlanta's Hartsfield airport were virtually empty.

We pat down old folks, babies and breast cancer survivors in ways that are offensive at best, and close to molestation at worst. Right in the middle of it we do full body scans to strip away clothing so we can 'see' if they're carrying something bad. We hold people indefinitely without counsel, without access to courts, even without charges.

Bush and the Patriot Act was an outright attack on rights we assume as US citizens. Obama did what anyone with a brain whose head is not up a party's ass, would assume he would do, which is retain those powers and further them. The next president will too. So will the one following him or her.

Once abridged, governments and politicians do not give up power or control. The simply use the last step as the base for the next push to reinvent and reinterpret law in ways to seize more power. The only change possible has to come from the people. These scenarios will get scarier and more intrusive as time passes.

Of course, you can always wait until the current generations die off, and the next will simply accept it as the way it always was.

And in many ways, we deserve it. We're too fucking scared of ourselves, and too fucking politically polarized to deserve the liberty that we were given, and that we so easily give up when we feel threatened.
