Lets put it like this if your partner is working and is earning a level of income above the threshold which isnt very high something like $10,000 annually, you wouldnt qualify, it is totally unfair, how can you consider people of above $10,000 well to do and capable of affording private health care, you cant and they arent but thats the system, it is only if both together , this is my understanding anyhow have income of less than $10,000 annually would the couple qualify for a medical card, like i say totally unfair and totally unfair that the people MOST in need of health care are DENIED it because of lack of money, ie they cant pay for it so the State doesnt provide for them, completely inequitable but our health care system is just that inequitable and dyfunctional
kevin

Nobody should not have access to basic healthcare, but your characterization that people above $10,000 are considered "well to do" strikes me as a strawman. It sounds to me that they are considered capable of funding a certain level of their own care, not that they are "well to do".

I don't care for the "card" idea. I think a clinic model is far more cost effective.

I think that a clinic model that accepted NO insurance whatsoever would be far more cost-effective.

Yes, that is what I was referring to. Preferably run by medical schools, with a year of internship (or more depending on specialty) satisfied by working in the clinics.

Well, I'm thinkin walrus oosic with the meat on... but that's just cause I feel like busting balls today.

I'll put it in "code" so as not to invite Freddie Kreuger to her bed tonight. 4 amaebi, served in the traditional manner. :)

No oosik, I'll stick with the urchin gonads.

I have been hungry before but NEVER hungry enough to eat oosik. Of course, not being near the ocean the only oosik we have around here is from raccoons. And those taste like cat. In fact it is very important that they have not cut the paws off when you buy them.

Of course. . . I have to ask. . . how can you even TASTE the fish-ees once you have covered them in your chili sauce and wasabi?

the chili sauce was Stern's so he can respond on that one...I dont use it on sashimi, rarely soy sauce even. A dot of wasabi adds a nice kick to the shrimp/quail egg combo without overpowering it.

The mixture of chili and wasabi are dilute enough to make it through a hypodermic needle, so they're a kick in the but but not overpowering ... And the shrimp are a large strain out there (probably like your west coast prawns.). Either way, it's spicey n' delicious... Only thing that I think beats it is sushi, fresh cut (soon as it's landed) from the crown of a bluefin tuna

Something I have advocated for a long time. The hospital here, Allegheny Hospital, does that, partly. They have many clinics ran by attendings as teaching clinics.... they do charge however. Thats part of the problem with such clinics... it still costs money to run, and attendings are expensive.
