Should all medical card holders have available to them the same ranges of treatment as non medical card holders. Apparently non medical card holders do NOT have the same level of range treatment available to them. Should health care not be free for all? Why should those who cant afford proper treatment be discriminated against. Is it fair that money is the deciding factor in the quality of treatment one can get. What do you think about this folks? Or is it only right that workers have better medical care available to them

Are you worried you're not getting the mental health care you obviously need?

The wonders of living in the UK, the NHS helps us all properly!

lobodomslavery -> RE: Folks what do you think about the fact that medical card holders are denied health care services ava (9/20/2011 2:50:59 PM)

Well the short answer is no im not worried because i know i am not getting the mental health treatment i need and neither is anyone else in Ireland because we are dealing with an antiquated dysfunctional system which is not fit for purpose and is not serving the needs of those with mental illness. However leaving that aside and looking at the wider view, it is a FACT that people with medical cards, im not one of them by the way, DO NOT have available to them the same level and range of treatment as non medical card holders, ie those who are most in need of health care are being denied it because they dont have the MONEY to pay for it and the question i m throwing out is in a civilised caring society Should money be no object when it comes to health, in other words why should money and lack of same as people on medical cards have very little money be an obstacle to people receiving necessary medical treatment

i dont know what is like in the US but i think ireland should have a system similar to the UK and quite honestly i dont know why they dont because we have copied everything from Britain, our laws derive from Britain, we speak the same language and we are effectively west britons

I give up, should they?

Apparently non medical card holders do NOT have the same level of range treatment available to them. Should health care not be free for all? Of course it should. And the health care providers should sleep naked in cages and submit to whippings every night.

Why should those who cant afford proper treatment be discriminated against.

damn right. And after they do I want a fucking Lamborhini instead of my Mercedes.

Is it fair that money is the deciding factor in the quality of treatment one can get. Of course not, and I want lifetime free fucking maintenance on that Lamborghini too.

ORLY. And where is the line between "necessary" health care and "luxury" health care? "Necessary food" and "luxury food"? "Necessary housing" and "luxury housing"?

They are all commodities. You get what you can pay for. There is nothing unique about health care.

Nobody should be denied access to necessary medical care. Nobody should lose their home and life savings because of medical bills. All necessary medical care should be covered under a non-profit single-payer system.

Um, kevin, please do me a favor and describe just what a medical card is.  95% of the posters here are from the US and as one of them, I don't know what the card actually is.

Evidence of insurance, basically, if I understood the intent.

Yes just like 'a boot' in America is something somebody wears, while in England its the 'trunk' of the car. While it may sound obvious, it could be something quite different.
