Well, i have been asleep, and just got up, but Fox news has an article that he just postponed the speech for a day, not that he "could not give the jobs speech." http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/08/31/obama-steps-on-gop-debate-with-jobs-speech/ Ah well, it better be a fucking great speech.

I think the President should have just had his speech from the White House. Republicans be damned! Its not like they have done anything useful for the American people in the last decade... Would be curious to see who got more press and air time: A) The President of the United States, speaking on an important subject that affects millions of Americans on a daily basis. OR B) A GOP multi-person press conference (debates are were people....debate), that would show none of the candidates have a clue on how to deal with the unemployment (not to mention the other half million problems in the country), while bashing the President for taking airtime away from their bloated ego's. After all, the President is doing something the GOP House couldn't accomplish in nine months: A Jobs Bill. That's right, going into the 2010 mid-term election, the GOP said to Americans "Vote us into office and we'll get a Jobs Bill through Congress". So, now that the President is doing the GOP House's job (on top of his own), could we just fire all the republicans in the House? Apparently, they suck at their jobs! Where is all the bitching by conservatives regarding how long its taken the GOP House to release a Jobs Bill to Congress? Not even a peep! Where is the accountibility? Do you actually hold your own elected officals that are conservative/Republican/Tea Party to even a billionth the degreel you rail the President for on a daily basis?

Hmmm.. A) Obama could give it at the White House, he doesn't have to do it in front of a joint session of congress. This is him being a dick and politically grand standing his jobs speech. Therefore, Boehner slapped him back. B) He won't offer a plan. He never does, won't start now. There will be some platitudes that sound like ideas but I am sure he saw those pasted to the back of a prius in Marthas Vinyard C) 0.2% of america will waste their time watching the republican debate anyways. No one gives a shit about primary debates. People will likely be watching something like the series finale of Rescue Me. That's what I am doing. D) And even if the Pres doesn't put his speech up against Football, most people will change the chanel rather than listen to him drone on and accuse the tea party for being the bain of america's existence. They will wait for the recap on the news chanels once it has been chewed up and spit out.

I've said this over and over, the problem isn't with the Tea Party. The problem is there's only one Tea Party. Most dems I know don't support the left wingers who are hanging on the ends, but are stuck with them. Maybe one day, they'll understand.... They don't have to be.

Otherwise, its all twitty Kool-Aid drinkers.

And your assessment that its "Kool-Aid" drinkers is incorrect imo. They arent watching because their minds are made up already. The debates attract the independents and those on the fence.

Their recent 22 point whatever, not focused, and a waste. Two there are still too many politiwhores in that debate. Three, there will be too much God in that debate, not enough rational policy. Four, the tea party hasn't done shit yet. Obstructionism is worthless. On paper they have a lot of good ideas, but in practice too many hijacked by the God brigade, they don't have a pragmatic means of implementing policy, and they lack a voice to get things done. Finally, not one of them is a clear cut leader. It doesn't matter if any of them would make a great panel member on the economy and have good ideas. If not a one of them is a solid leader and a visonary, they might as well show monkies throwing shit. 4 years of Obama has showed us the value of limp dicked leadership. We need a stateman to emerge, and the republican primary candidates as of today blow about as much as FB thread.

Boehner was an obstructionist asshole when he was in the state legislature and nothing has changed since he was elected to Congress, it's only become worse. His only concern is scoring political points.

I think its not about what theyve doing the past 10 years, but getting back to the 20 years before those. I don't disagree with "too much God", but I do disagree that it precludes rational policy debate. The tea party has done plenty. It has focused the discussion on where it needs to be, and without them we would have had more spending and more taxes, disasterous for the economy. And I totally disagree with Romney and Perry at least not being leaders. They have been very succesful in two important states, Romney despite being a Republican in a state that leans far left. Obama gave all kinds of pretty speeches about reaching accross the aisle, and from the start showed the only thing that he would reach accross the aisle with is a stick with shit on the end. We dont need a visionary, we need a competent executive. Romney at least has proven to be that, in both business and government. Will someone else come along? Doubtful at this point. Romney/Rubio 2012.
