And im sure some deserved to be arrested, pahunk. That doesnt mean they are trying to impose sharia law on the rest of us.

But the article mentioned the manhandling of women, well, if that happened to your partners, wouldn't you be a bit pissed off and perhaps react accordingly

Perhaps you should not jump to conclusions …It was also stated by the police that they did not use excessive force. 40 men and women is a riot and they feed off each others anger. Remember who started the fracas…not the police who I’m sure were very uncomfortable in that position. They knew what ever they did would be called prejudice by the Muslims….WHO are sensitized because of world events.

Regrettable... but the fault lies with the Muslim organizers and individuals who failed to follow rules that apply to everyone and calling it prejudice.

I think the group leaders should have read the rules first. I mean, according to the rules, if I had gone there on a cold day with a knitted scarf around My neck, Id have had to remove it.

People have to understand that the world isn't going to change to suit their whims.

Aneirin -> RE: Unrest At Amusement Park After Muslims Wearing Headscarves Turned Away From Rides... (8/31/2011 11:35:15 AM)

Sorry PA, I had to pull you on that one, because what you said regarding keep them out of PA, you came across as racist, and that is why I went on to say about homosexuals, and that because Gay's are also a minority group, who also have a history of prejudice levelled against them, you being of that grouping, I would have thought you would have had more empathy for other minority groups.

But I will say, don't believe everything you hear in the news, be that the gutter press or any other publication, for you will notice there are always people with an axe to grind in whatever direction suits their prejudice. In fact, why don't you go out with an open mind and meet some American muslims and there discern them for yourself and then match that against the rabble rouser oppinion pieces that seem to flood the internet in these times.

As to worrying about scarves flailing in the wind and becoming a hazard, personally with my engineering background, I would be more concerned about the machine failing as no matter how well designed and built a thing is, it is all down to the grease monkey that checks the thing, or doesn't on a regular basis.

It is more of a NIMBY thing.   I dont want Sharia law here.

We have enough trouble.    You could add a laundry list of things I dont want on my block- screaming kids, barking dogs, litter bugs,  tires laying in the yard,  cars with loud stereos.  Punks who do not pull up their pants.

Unrest At Amusement Park After Muslims Wearing Headscarves Turned Away From Rides...

Why are they even at an amusement park?     You have to follow the safety rules.   Keep them out of PA.

What if a gaggle of Neo-Nazis showed up in full regalia?
Wouldn't the park want to keep them out???

pahunkboy -> RE: Unrest At Amusement Park After Muslims Wearing Headscarves Turned Away From Rides... (8/31/2011 12:12:48 PM)

The issue is head gear.    Which can clog the ride.    Aside from that--  one would have to look at their TOS.

It was an attempt to impose Sharia law on the others- which then would have killed the others in an accident.

Explain how this group was attempting to impose sharia law.

Holy shit, now he's embracing yet another conspiracy.

tazzygirl -> RE: Unrest At Amusement Park After Muslims Wearing Headscarves Turned Away From Rides... (8/31/2011 2:37:51 PM)

I still havent figured out how being allowed to ride with head gear on is imposing Sharia law.

I really don't think Sharia law will come to the US, perhaps there are people that would like that and with them, their counterpart might want the US to be more religious, but again, I really don't think that will happen, at least in your life time, so give the minorities a break, live and let live, that is all it takes.

Now of course live and let live cannot happen in all countries and certainly not some Muslim countries, but the US is not Muslim and probably stands no chance of being that, despite how many Muslims live in the US.

You see, the problem is religious fundamentalism, a minority adherence, but would you accept there are those who are Muslim that don't want to be a pain in the ass to everyone else, but the fundies as ever ruin it for everyone else.

Don't tar all Muslims with the fundie brush, as the Christian fundies are also against homosexuality, so whilst you may seek to rid the Moslem, the fundie Christian belief is just as much a danger.

But unfortunately your laundry list is just life, your intolerance might be another's tolerance, hey your laundry list might be seen by a majority, all those who offend you might be as a group more than you, making you a minority and as democracy dictates minorities lose.

If you find you cannot live with other's wiles, move away, perhaps the country, but beware nature has been there longer than you.
