Thanks for posting this topic. I have a friend who could stand to peek at this thread. I too have dealt with a lot in life and luckily have had my self esteem come out stronger with each challenge. But.. I am also submissive. The two are not interdependent for me. I've come to the personal conclusion that one of the reasons I've been looking to express my sub side more is that it is (for me) also about being able to let go of controlling everything else in my life. I still have my free will, and it occasionally gets me in trouble, but that's my battle with the everyday me against the submissive me. And my bf enjoys that struggle I have.
