ORIGINAL: Anaxagoras Smegma seems to be a medical term but I thought there was a chance the writers had adapted it to smeg as they used it all the time, and its not used where I grew up, just saw it on "The 'Dwarf". Smegma is a medical term, derived (I believe) from the word "smectic" meaning "soaplike". I know this cos I did some postgrad work on polymers. There was a running joke when the postgrads gave their annual presentation to the faculty (postgrads and undergrads), who could use the phrase "smectic, meaning soaplike" without giggling or smirking[:D] Although one year a colleague got really stressed and nervous before his presentation and said "smectic, meaning smeglike". Now THAT is humour!
