popeye1250 -> How do I get cat piss smell out of my sneakers? (7/30/2011 1:44:06 PM)

I inadvertently closed the door to the room that I keep Bubba's crap box in and went to bed the other night.
He pissed on my LL Bean shorts and I washed them twice and they're ok.
He also pissed in my sneakers (he must have been pissed!) and I put them in the machine twice and let them soak for an hour and they still smell like piss!
How do I get rid of that smell?

it's really very easy.....throw out the piss sneakers and buy some new ones.....that is one smell you never get rid of completely

Febreeze.

How can you not know this ? Shoot the motherfucker and buy a new pair of shoes.

Oh, after you shoot, stay away from the phone. Get a shovel. That's the way we do it here. "Oh, you gotta register the animal death and we have a teasm that comes out and......" Fuck all that. Cats ain't that big. Now if a moose pisses in your shoes you need to find a couple of friends who know how to keep their fucking mouth shut. It also helps if they have butchering skills. Just google for moosemeat recipes.

But really, get about twenty bucks worth of vinegar and soak the shoes in it for a day and hope it doesn't eat the glue. Then you could soak them in milk which is alkaline. After all this, put them alone in the washer on high water level, hot wash and rinse.

If that doesn't do it burn the house down and call the insurance company :-)

After several laundries with a detergent with Febreeze....try putting them out in harsh bright sunlight to dry. You may have to do this several times if it seems to help. Also, smell can come back when the shoes really dry.

I think you are going to have to toss them. But if they were pricy sneaks I would at least try it.

Reasons to remember, don't *piss* off a cat.

Lighter fluid and a match.

I'm ashamed to say I'm laughing my fool head off at Termyn8tor's post.

However, the big block pet stores and online pet stores sell a liquid called "Nature's Miracle".  The stuff works like a charm on any kind of smelly, organic mess. I've used it when something got skunk sprayed and on carpeting in a sick room. Either get a gallon of it and soak your shoes for about 24 hours, or get somewhat less of it and spray them thoroughly, then allow them to air dry.  If you choose to spray them, it may take more than one try.

Buy new ones and get rid of the cat.

Oh yeah I have heard about that stuff, it's supposed to be great. And Termy may be an acquired taste, but he's 100% original. His posts tend towards tin foil hat crazy, except when he's so right you want to weep.

It's been said: If you are going to tell the real truth, expect to be treated as crazy.

They're "New Balance" I think, big "N" on the side?
I got them at Sears, $60 I think.
Funny, I have a pair of the same only about 10 years old but he pissed in the new ones of course!
Well, they are great sneakers for the money! I'm wearing the 10 year old ones now and just from the looks of them I wouldn't have a problem wearing them for another ten years. And I'm very hard on sneakers, the treadmill at the gym, walking 5 or 6 times a week. A LOT of miles on them!

There are no tinfoil hats. It's aluminum foil now, tin is too expensive.

And really, if I weren't original the world would be in a hell of alot of trouble. Oh wait, it is. See how I forget things ?

Well, I think there's a consensus, new sneakers!
I'll donate those to the Salvation Army and tell the guy what's wrong with them. Maybe they can fix them or maybe I'll be at the store some
time and the guy with food stamps behind me in line will be wearing new balance sneakers and smell like cat piss.
("Thankyou God for the sneakers!") ("Don't thank God thank Bubba!")
I was looking at these 10 year old sneakers and there's no chunks of rubber missing on the soles, no cuts, no nothing! The only thing they need is a wash and a new set of laces!
These things last longer than tires!
But, I do need a new pair of sneakers for formal wear, going out to eat etc.

LOL!  Might as well pick-up some flip-flops for weddings while you are at it, Popeye.  (Fucking smartass retirees!)

Hold on, are you saying that you noticed the difference between tinfoil hats and aluminum ?

Now I am going to have to look that up.

littlewonder -> RE: How do I get cat piss smell out of my sneakers? (7/30/2011 5:13:36 PM)

buy new shoes.

Seriously, nothing gets rid of the smell completely no matter what the products tell you.

I've tried everything on the market at one time or another. They work for a short period of time but the smell returns.  Easier and cheaper just to buy a new item.

Do you really think the Salvation Army or Goodwill is going to try to do something with cat pissed tennis shoes????

Toss them in the garbage and expect some cross looks from the guys on the back of the truck.

Woooo hoooo yet another notch on the Termy paranoia level.

This sounds a bit nuts but maybe there is some truth to a bit of it: http://www.wayofcats.com/blog/dear-pammy-is-it-true-about-cats-and-shoes/2856
