Well it seems the Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is saying Obama has committed a crime and has sent a letter to the Dept of Justice to look into the matter.

Here is the link, and below that a quote from George W. Bush's White house attorney

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0711/59312.html

“This letter is an embarrassment to the Republican Party, of which I count myself a part,” said Richard Painter, an ethics lawyer in President George W. Bush’s White House.

Priebus doesn't know what he's talking about. This is just another attempt in the long line of republican silliness to discredit the president. They did it to Clinton too. I'm not so sure the right wing hates the fact that a black man is in the oval office so much as they hate a democrat being there at all. I find it sad that as far as the right is concerned the only legitimate president we could have would be a republican one.

Wow,where did the token black and super chairmen Michael Steel go, with such secrecy?

Reince Priebus?

Wow,now there`s a name for you.Sounds French......[:D]

Looks like Mr. Priebus(that`s a funny name)is just as vacuous and petty and useless as Steel.

First the French sounding chairman makes the claim, then other equally vacuous cons chime in, then fux reports there "are calls" to investigate. Then the chorus follows with complaints that the AG isn`t investigating for partisan reasons.....

WWFHD?

What would Fredo have done?[:D]

To start with this happened in the residence where the Hatch act does not apply. Second a donation was not required to get a raffle ticket. Therefore no crime occured. Priebus is wasting his time.

Difference between written law and case law. Obama may have broken written law - it's a gray area - but there's no question that what he did is very much following precedent.

Ken, I thought that the problem was that it is not clear whether the Map Room is for public or private use.

This story came out a bit ago and I was reading about it.

There are a lot of meet and greets with ambassadors and such that take place in the Map Room, which would make it public.

The second floor is the residence, so having the video done there would have been clearly okay.

So. . . to what use is the Map Room put to determine whether it is public or private?

joether -> RE: Obama accused of committing a crime Oh NO! (7/19/2011 6:54:25 AM)

Usually when you accuse someone of major wrong doing (particularly the President of the United States) you, the accuser gives some REAL evidence. Not psuedo-evidence. And when you FAIL at it, its fair enough to ask for a public apology. Now, most of us know this National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, doesnt 'have a leg to stand on'. We also know his ego is propably so high as to not be able to apologize to both the President and the American public. Typical Republican bullshit.

That's really all this is in fact. And the only people that will believe the charge is true, are the same folks that never get reality correct: conservatives. An the 'engine of truth and fact' that will deliever this message to them: FOX News! Is it to much to ask conservatives to not be or behave fucking retarded for at least one day in a millennium?

The Map Room is public since stuff like the raffle occurs there and it is part of the tours but it is in the residence and the President is allowed to make fund raising calls and the like from the residence.

Steele hasn't been head of the RNC since January (I think?) He is now a paid contributor of MSNBC.

Come on, admit it, you made that name up.

Nope, that's the man's all right.

Committing crimes against the U.S. Constitution is Obama's favorite fetish.

In the Reagan and Bush tradition, to be sure.

Yeah...

ANYTHING Obama does HAS to be legit

Amongst his adoring worshipers, its hang Obamas accusers first, and ask no questions later

BUT

If BUSH was involved...

By default its the crime of the century, especially if it involved liberating millions and millions of people from one of the most brutal dictators the world has ever known

You fucking hypocrites know no bounds

Sanity, when people say we 'liberated' Iraq, it reminds me of the story of the old farmer that burned his barn down to get rid of the rats.

juliaoceania -> RE: Obama accused of committing a crime Oh NO! (7/19/2011 8:43:37 AM)

From the article

However, some good-government groups and campaign finance experts have shrugged off the Obama video and the related raffle, which was announced last month and sought a campaign donation of at least $5. In the fine print, it said no donation was required. And one expert said Monday that Priebus’s letter was off the mark.

There are no crimes against the U.S. Constitution. By definition, crimes are violations of laws created by legislation.

e.g.: the presentation of information to Congress and the general public through deceit, craft, trickery, dishonest means, and fraudulent representations, including lies, half-truths, material omissions, and statements made with reckless indifference to their truth or falsity, while knowing and intending that such fraudulent representations would influence Congress' decisions regarding authorization to use military force and funding for military action, constitutes interfering with, obstructing, impairing, and defeating a lawful government function of a department of the United States within the meaning of Section 371.

Let's talk about that hypocrisy Sanity.

You praise Bush for the war in Iraq but condemn Obama for intervention in Libya.

Did I miss something in the translation?

Is he less of a brutal dictator than Saddam?
