I remember my Auntie June buying gas at certain stations because of the little goodies they'd give away if you bought a certain amount of gas. *sigh*
My grandparents got a whole set of glassware that way.

I'm pretty sure that Auntie June put lots of things in her hope chest!!
Oh my!! Green Stamps! I don't remember getting them from the gas stations, but they must have. S&H & every few books, my mother would let me have the $2 for licking all those stamps. I used to love filling the books, even when I didn't get anything for them. Odd child, I was...

S&H or P&S ?
Oh gosh... I'd forgotten that part! S&H. I remember sitting at the kitchen table pasting stamps into the books. We even had a redemption store where I lived, too!

San Francisco East Bay about 1976, 58 cents. I remember it was the same price per gallon as fresh dungeness crab was per pound at the Safeway next to the gas station. Tell you what, I miss the 58 cent crab more than I do the cheap gas.

25 cents a gallon at the Clark station on Clark Street in downtown Stevens Point, Wisconsin. I remember wondering what the heck the world was coming too when it skyrocketed to .30 a gallon. My dad put in an underground bulk tank by the garage so we could buy 500 gallons at a time and save money... he was worried that the way things were going, the day would come when we would see 50 cent a gallon gasoline. Of course, my mother and I were convinced he was insane.
