ORIGINAL: Marini Very, very, interesting story. Man robs bank for $1 so he can get health care I don't find it interesting. I find it horribly tragic and sad. This man worked all his life, and then is a victim of "downsizing" of one sort or another and is too old to be hired somewhere else (ageism DOES exist) and is left with no health care options. THIS is why we need health care reform. I don't care how it happens, just that it happens. The latest is how the new bill will allow MIDDLE CLASS people to qualify for medicaid. Couples making up to $64K a year could potentially qualify for medicaid. Such insanity. You can NOT afford quality healthcare in this country making that amount, but I'll be damned if the politicians, who of course have excellent health care packages, are screaming in outrage. At the end of the month, I will be without insurance. No idea what I'm going to do. I have fibromyalgia, diabetic neuropathy, past renal failure (possible recurring), diabetes (need insulin after the kidney failure) and herniated discs in my lower back and neck. Guess the politicians figure since there is a family cemetary plot, I should just die and be done with it. LafayetteLady, I find it terribly sad also, I should have used the word "sad". Maybe you have not read all the many posts I have made about how fucked up our system is and how we need major changes, across the board. Believe me, as sad as this story is, I am sure there are many more that don't make the news. I am glad his story is being told, to shine a light on how desperate many people are. I totally agree 100% the system is fucked up, and we have no real safety net for the millions of people falling down and between the cracks. I certainly hope you are able to get the medical care and coverage that you need. Good luck to you. Peace and Blessings.
