Blue-collar former homeowners began becoming homeless in the '80s, but with the foreclosure crisis it is happening with lightning speed today. Until Reagan nobody ever even heard the word 'homeless'. There were vagabonds, to be sure, vagrants and hobos but it was assumed these people chose to live that way. And many did. Some homeless still do chose to be homeless. The vast majority, however, do not. We have entire families now seeking shelter and food from soup kitchens. We have 18 yr. old boys who have no family, no job and mental health issues--i work with this demographic of homeless and too many of them end up in the justice system because of hopelessness. When Reagan closed California's state mental hospitals and that idea swept the nation, it was seen as a victory by the mental health advocates. As a former mental health patient and a current service provider, it was a grave mistake to do that without the necessary community supports of treatment, housing, training in independent living skills and financial aspects all put into place before hand. i've come to the conclusion the country simply does not care about any of us who do not earn at least 1/2M a year.

They don't have to care about us, we must care about us, and rise up and change things.

I like you Lady!!

And just how is that going to happen ? It's not like you better have a gun, you better have 100 guns and people who know how to use them to put some fear into the scumbags who have stolen our wealth. Gotny fucking bright ideas ? Vote for who the fuck who ? Once in power the money talks. Gotny connections in the media to organise a boycott, nope, they got that locked up too. Now what ?

This guy made his choice, that's fine and good. I am not all that happy seeing taxpayer money going to treat him, but that does not make justice. My choice would have been to die.

And choose who goes with me, just like postals. He has some sort of lust for life. But if you put a gun to my face I would laugh at you. That's me, and really I don't have it all that bad. But I want nothing to do with this kind of shit.

You can't blame Obama for this when Blue Dog Democrats (republicans disguised as democrats to fuck everything up) in the Senate failed to pass the public option. How many Republicans want single-payer health care in comparison to real (blue dogs don't count)Democrats? Republicans also voted NO on bills written by Democrats to discourage outsourcing and encourage bringing jobs back to the US. I know this thread is about health care not jobs, but health insurance is tied to employment.

That's exactly what this guy did. Burdening his family would have only helped him. He went to jail and made sure his story got media attention. He wants things to change not only for him, but for everyone like him. This guy is a hero.

"At the end of the month, I will be without insurance.  No idea what I'm going to do.  I have fibromyalgia, diabetic neuropathy, past renal failure (possible recurring), diabetes (need insulin after the kidney failure) and herniated discs in my lower back and neck.  Guess the politicians figure since there is a family cemetary plot, I should just die and be done with it. "

Sadly, that's the way it is. You may or my not know that I am a nontaxpayer. But I will tell you this, I would pay gladly if I got something for the money. Even for someone else because there but for the grace of ..............

I don't pay because they do absolutley nothing for us. JFK was full of shit, ask not what your country can do for you. Fuck that. They don't pay "us". We pay "them".

Alot of us are going to die. Actually all of us are going to die. This guy wanted to live. I think he made a mistake actually. But then it might not be a mistake for him.

Next time I get sick, I will say goodbye. That is it. I am fucking done with this planet and the only reason I live is because my Mother is still alive. I will not let her see her offspring predecede her. Once she croaks, you might as well give me a list of MFs. I'll see what I can do. But right now I have my health.

It is not going to change. They will start denying medical care to inmates until someone comes along and sues the fuck out of them. "I could've gotten care to save my life if I wasn't locked up". Proof is in the death, and the suit will have to be filed by someone who cares. Who cares.

There is no question mark at the end of the last sentence. It was not omitted by mistake.
