It's alive, same way kids can get cancer or grown ups...

Oh Otters I am so sorry to read of your bad news!

I know everone here that pays any attention at all to my posts know of my three goombas. I've had dogs nearly my whole life. Life being what life is, I've lost quite a few and it is never easy. Some just seem to leave a bigger hole of sadness when they go... Mia Bella was seriously hard.

Several years ago I put down our big goof ball of an over grown Golden Retriever due to cancer. No signs at all until about two weeks before. Hopefully, because you've gotten some sign of the issue earlier, it can be healed so that you have more time with your baby. If not, love your furbaby and enjoy the moments you have. Through your memories they never leave you. I have been so blessed to share my life with some truely wonderful dogs.

I'm sorry, Otter. I've been there, and it sucks.

You have given (and will give) your pup a wonderful life, even if shorter than hoped.

May that help bring peace, and even joy.

Tim

Or maybe the puppy came from a puppy mill.  (where it was inbreed)     It just seems odd to me that a puppy would have cancer.

LaTigresse -> RE: Our Puppy has Cancer... (6/18/2011 10:30:07 AM)

PA, it is quite common. Obviously, once again, you are utterly clueless.

You mean like all the children who have cancer are inbred? Get a freaking grip! Cancer happens to living beings, I am sure a lot of things seem odd to you and frankly I'm not surprised.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Our Puppy has Cancer... (6/18/2011 11:11:18 AM)

So sorry to hear that Otter. Lots of hugs going out to you and yours.

Humans are higher up on the food chain -  so you can not compare a human cancer to a dog cancer.

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Our Puppy has Cancer... (6/18/2011 12:51:09 PM)

PA, my sister has a chocolate lab.  He's got arthritis and she's been told to buy him the over-the-counter meds for humans since it's the same product in the doggie ones, only 2 to 3 times as expensive.  A friend of mine had a shitzu with a brain tumor and lost his peripheral vision.  So yes, it's indeed possible for pets to get the same illnesses as humans.  Down to diabetes, I have another friend who has to have insulin given to her cat every day.

Tigger,  OP;

I am sorry for this illness. It really does suck.   :-(

dcnovice -> RE: Our Puppy has Cancer... (6/18/2011 12:56:42 PM)

Big hugs, Otter. I'm so very sorry.

I know I can not tell you how to post, but a nice "I am so sorry and wish you the best" would be a good thing to do.  You could always start another thread on your disbelief.

Otters is hurting because of a sick furbaby.  Wouldn't it be nice to keep this thread about good wishes?

Sorry, Otters, if I did exactly what I was asking him to stop.  It just rubbed me the wrong way.

Hugs to you and the furbaby.

Hi Otters,

From experience I suggest you also try a herbalist along side any treatment the vet may offer. I find animals respond really well to herbal remedies. My thoughts are with you and yours.

WTF?  Humans are at the top of the food chain. So are pet dogs.

And cancer strikes both identically.

Prayers for you and the pup

Yes, thank you.  We have found an herb called artemisinin that is reputed to be effective in dogs with cancer.  We could not find it in any of the local shops, and so have ordered from the internet and it should arrive by Wednesday.  Best we can do at this point...

Above posted by Otter...we are down to one computer for a short time...sorry...

MaxsBoy -> RE: Our Puppy has Cancer... (6/18/2011 4:53:08 PM)

I'm so sorry Otter.  I'll be praying for you and your pup.

lizi -> RE: Our Puppy has Cancer... (6/18/2011 6:06:58 PM)

I'm so sad about this news. Your pup has such loving and responsible owners. Sounds like you're approaching things with a good view as to what can and should be done. My best to all of you.
