http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/06/09/sources-gingrich-aides-resign-en-masse-from-campaign/

WASHINGTON — Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich's campaign manager, senior strategists and key aides in early delegate-selection states all resigned on Thursday, a mass exodus that leaves his hopes of winning the Republican nomination in tatters. In response, Gingrich posted a message to his followers on Facebook: "I am committed to running the substantive, solutions-oriented campaign I set out to run earlier this spring. The campaign begins anew Sunday in Los Angeles." Rick Tyler, Gingrich's (now former) spokesman, told The Associated Press that he, campaign manager Rob Johnson and several senior strategists resigned, along with aides in the early primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. NBC News confirmed that several top aides left Gingrich's campaign on Thursday.

While he is on a cruise in the Mediterranean? they couldnt wait till he got back?

I wonder why they resigned

edited to add

The source said those resignations came following disagreements about how to use campaign resources including the candidate's time. The resignations are being taken under consideration by Gingrich

He's toast as far as the nomination is concerned....but to be fair his being toast was probably a led to the resignations, rather than his being toast due to the resignations.
All that just might seem confusing.....the important point is.......he is toast.

Another article I read about it said that Newt wanted to run a techno campaign, others wanted him to run a "normal" one pressing flesh, touring etc
sounds like hes tired??
hey im guessing we wont find out the truth, just a rough approximation

One reason suggested in the article is that he took a cruise with his wife when he should have been trying to establish a rep as a serious contender.

Did you notice how the article mentioned how the crowded OP field gives them all sorts of opportunities for working for others?  It's a tight world there.

Yes, little rats abandoning ship, no one wants to sink their career on a loser

I would respect his "aides" more if they had stuck with his campaign, because it never had much of a chance anyways. It would be a statement of standing for what they believed in (if Newt had any real hardcore beliefs).

Am I cynical because I think that someone who goes on vacation while trying to get a nomination, well, it seems a little bit like Newt was never serious anyways

He believes in himself, getting speaker fees, and selling his books.  Similar to another GOP pretender.

He`s get`n maverickie?

He`s not playing politics as usual?

His OB is getting out of hand?

Demanding to check underware for skid marks?

He`s a cheap bastard when it comes to payroll?

Now demands his staff wear the undies on the outside so he can more easily check for skid marks?

He`s do`n um two at a time?An affair is ok but two`s fuck`n indulgent.

They think Newty can better serve the public interest outside of public office?

They all woke up together after a booze fueled orgie and are now having a collective emotional hang-over?

Thank-ya vuree-much folks. I got a hundred of`m.......I`ll be here in the lounge for the rest of the month.....

Welcome to fray Governor Perry?

While there are no plans for any of the staffers to join other campaigns at this point, the moves could signal a potential presidential campaign by Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Johnson ran Perry's campaign for governor while Dave Carney, another strategist who left the Gingrich camp, also has very close ties to the Texas governor.

His "Secessionist stuff" is way overblown. He is a strict Constitutionalist and was arguing for the sovereignty of the states. You ar right, he could be very formidable. Texas has fare the recession better than most states, he has solid conservative credibility on virtually all issues, and doesnt have the taint of Romneycare. The ad hominem crew will have a ball with another Tx governor and tying him back to the Bush's, though.

To be fair newt also believes in the institution of marriage...as a matter of fact his belief is so strong he has done got himself married 3 times at last count.
As far as Perry is concerned.....And Mark's comment about "exception of the secessionist stuff"......would that be like asking Mrs Lincoln how she enjoyed the play......yanno disregarding the assassination and all ?

Don't kid yourself folks...This guy has "it" as far as the Republicans go, and even though he is from Texas, he and the Bush Family dislike each other....A LOT.

He is charismatic, he can fire up a convention, he has the conservative credentials for the far right and comes off well in public. He could would be a serious contender not only in the primary but also in the general election.

He isn't Harvey Milqtoast Romney, he isn't Ms. Room Temperature IQ Palin, he can raise funds with the best of them. He comes from a Large and important state, really wouldn't have to get in until South Carolina and he would win in South Carolina.

Don't let your hearts over rule your brains here....
