Really? Roosters are old & soup-worthy at the age of 1 year?

I never ate a rooster myself, but we did used to kill & cook the old hens when they stopped laying.

They're not a meat bread Linnea, but certainly they could be boiled for soup, or sold for dog food or something. It just struck me as odd that the carcasses are discarded after the feathers are removed.
