Well top- as a kid these ladies were deprived of bows and berets.   So this is pay back.

Fly fishermen are not happy, bemoaning the trend in online message boards and sneering at so-called "feather ladies." Some also blame "American Idol" judge and rocker Steven Tyler, who began wearing the feathers in his long hair.

Get hold of someone sporting this new hairstyle tie a rope around their ankle and stick them in the water head first, the jobs a good'en.

Am I missing the inconvenience caused here?

When i was younger and slightly crazy i had long wavy hair and often wore a very thin gold chain in my hair. It was subtle and draped over a shoulder with a thin braid. Not for everyone, but it was my personal style, i guess.

But a feathered fishing lure? Tanks, but they need to reel it in. It looks shrimply ridiculous.

*sigh*

It always happens, doesn't it?

There is ALWAYS one that has to take it one step farther than the rest....

I've seen this trend in Iowa City. It just reminded me of my youth and girls clipping their roach clips, with the leather, beads and feathers tied to them, in their hair. Figured it was, yet another, old trend, revived.

GreedyTop -> RE: The latest in hair salon trends (6/4/2011 7:37:21 AM)

so.. I guess I should start making feather roach clips again, and I could get RICH off the chicks that cant afford the fly feathers?

*grin*

littlewonder -> RE: The latest in hair salon trends (6/4/2011 8:04:10 AM)

when I saw this on the news a couple nights ago and they said "it's held in by a small clip"....yup, an 80's trend coming back when we'd wear feathers in our hair held in by roach clips...nothing new here. Just a return to the 80's again.

pahunkboy -> RE: The latest in hair salon trends (6/4/2011 8:08:15 AM)

Why not use fish hooks to pierce your ears?

They're just doing it for the halibut.

Wonder if the weight of the lure will give them a haddock

I hope the folks doing this don't think it's original, and kicking bass....

Bah, 80's fashion trends were bad, do we really need to revive them? Anybody seen people dressing like Springsteen and Poison yet? <shudder>

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The latest in hair salon trends (6/4/2011 1:25:06 PM)

Amazing that PETA hasn't jumped all over this. They're killing roosters for the feathers. Only they're calling it "euthanizing". lmao

DesFIP -> RE: The latest in hair salon trends (6/4/2011 4:27:32 PM)

They're old chickens, why aren't they making soup out of them?

I actually would get one if I was younger. Not the hot pink but the subtle colors. They just look really good.

And they showed up in my town about two weeks ago. Big sign in front of the trendiest hair salon saying "we have feather extensions".  I imagine all the people who raise chickens around here are contemplating how much they could scalp a rooster for. A lot more than the $3 for a dozen eggs.

SternSkipper -> RE: The latest in hair salon trends (6/4/2011 4:41:06 PM)

I see a major flaw right off the bat... No hook.
Sure, an asian girl's head will attract sharks, especially if there is colorful adornment. But what good is a lure without a hook?

I so look forward to the day when PETAskin gloves are available at local stores
