Which will be cooler for summer.  Sounds nice.

The shoulder length will take some getting used to. My hair hasn't been this short in years. I doubt I'll be able to do a french roll with all the layers, but now I can pull my hair up with a circular comb and curl the top for a formal look. With the two tone colors, it will really stand out.

I very much go for the practical-  could be the male in me.  I drove my barber crazy by the long short cycle. (short for the summer)

UPDATE:

I decided to go for it. My natural hair color is medium brown. I have pale skin with an orange undertone and blue veins, which puts me in the cool category. Because of my skin tone, the stylist recommended a dark brown top layer, blonde underneath that hangs about an inch below the dark layer and blonde streaks through the dark brown bangs. Sir and our roommate both love it.

happy that you could find a good compromise!

That sounds much better than blonde and black. I like the jet black look, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really committed to it - it's really hard to get out if you decide you don't like it, and it's really obvious when it starts to grow out, so unless you want to cut your hair really short or pay a stylist a bunch of money to repeatedly dye over it you're kind of stuck with it.

Good girl. And I am sorry to be so blunt. But I really feel that in the areas of somewhat reasonable requests. We aren't really helping if we're not telling you to abide by your master.

Ya know...just because that statement works in your dynamic, does not mean it works for everybodies dynamic.
