"but it is very possible that they have extraterrestrial technology in their possession " How would you prove that something is extraterrestrial ? FR Now I see. The evidence is right here why we can't solve these inertia or whatever problems. The energy required. My ass. Get it straight, if you solve the mass/inertia problem for one single atom, it is solved for a galaxy, or even a universe. It's either solved or it ain't. People used to think fire was alive, that there were four elements, and so forth and we still can't really disprove any of it. I've watched technology happen in the last few decades and I don't believe we're completely done yet. There may be 120 or 130 elements now. Who cares how many have been discovered right now. But to say that means there could be many more. Maybe 200 ? When they create an element in a cyclotron, what makes it an element ? It may only exist for a fraction of a millisecond, but it qualifies as an element. If not it is just a bunch of particles. And, in that light just what is a positive hydrogen ion ? (don't answer, I know) It's not what's out there, it's where we draw the lines. However many elements have been discovered (note the wording) it's more than four. In a sense we've disproved nothing. Really, if Earth, wind, fire and water aren't elements just what are they ? Think of the concept rather than the word. All we ponder is based on our observations. Most of scientific discovery is based on making more accurate observations. If you think we can't go faster than C, so be it. We can, and one day we will. But it's actually better at this point in history to lack that ability. Cracking too many secrets of the universe isn't a good thing for us as long as tyrants rule. Think of the technology depicted in scifi in the hands of people today. If you don't see the problem watch the news, even Fux news, or better yet the Jerry Springer show. See how people are. The limitations imposed by our intellect reflect our mentality. That's a good thing. If Haliburton had the ability to grind up soldiers for food for other soldiers we would save alot of money on pensions. This petty bullshit is what keeps us from reaching the stars and what keeps us alive. I have the ultimate confidence in myself. I believe that I should be the one to greet extraterrestrials if they come. I believe that I may be the only human being capable of effectively ruling the world. And with all that, I know I may not be up to it, so it's better that it does not happen. And people automatically assume that extraterrestrials would be out to conquer. That is projection, plain and simple. We cannot assume that, not for one nanosecond. Because you like to think everyone is the same, including those on other worlds, you think they need a good reason to come here. You believe (I agree) that there was a commercial interest in the moonshots. That somehow we would get a trove of wonderful rare minerals and be able to send our waste there on return trips. Well that's how WE think. As long as we think that way, we will be limited in our growth. If a race does crack the thing open, it will be after they shed greed. I believe we could solve all the world's problems tomorrow, if we would all give up on certain notions. One of them is private property, and like most, honestly I am not quite ready for that. But if all decisions were made for the good of everyone, the idea of property would have to go. Land would have to be used as it is best fit for a given purpose. You have to move, we have a nice spot for you over here, and you go willingly. Try it today lol. This planet would produce enough food for twice the population, another thing we just can't do until people learn to stop reproducing at will. If we fed everyone, there will just be more nd more people until we can't, beause it is a fight against nature. We are not ready for answers, and that is why we won't accept them. We really don't even seek them. They think they do, but not really. Nobody works for free. Nobody can. As long as we think this way, forget about the really big scientific advances. The will only come after Mother nature deals us a few very hard lessons and corrects our ways. Is this time coming ? Yes. When ? I've waited a half a century, it's someone else's turn. Now I fall into it, I have my greed back, but tempered and refined and I am out to secure my future financially. My life used to be all about discovery, but now when they find another planet or something, it is nothing but a cool picture for me. Damn shame ain't it ? T^T
