David, if someone considers themself to be an expert at flea markets, I would assume:

1. He or she is a careful shopper, and not prone to buying big ticket items quickly.
2. He or she likes old things, things with history.
3. He or she is not agoraphobic.

I use profiles to get a feel for people, not to ask what their reasoning might be for listing something like that.

if i can add a 4th? There are people like me that will not settle for the ordinary stuff you find at Walmart. I like to take the unusual stuff and use it for a totally different purpose than intended.

Flea markets are cool, you can find some of the most amazing stuff there, since I like genuine antiques, you can make real finds there, usually go every Sunday morning...

lol...sometimes i really blow it though, AngelEyes. We were at an antique Flea market and hubby commented that someone was selling the door from an old cast-iron pot belly stove. It had a smaller door in the middle for a vent, i suppose. Whereas Jim was snickering, i was pulling out my wallet because i knew this thing would make a really unusual picture frame.

The problem was...by the time i was done cleaning, polishing, cutting the picture and mat it was so freaking heavy i would have pulled the wall down if i tried to hang it.

oops

I am not an expert in flea markets but I do have a pretty solid working knowledge of them.

It is kind of unavoidable because I live one town over from the largest outdoor antique show in the world.

My dad was a specialty collector and was an expert.

Well, at least that explains us now why you don't use your feet/shoes for walking, but for falling instead

Thanks for that one...

Or maybe, like my ex in-laws, they used to run booths at local flea markets, and going to others was their main entertainment. They went to every one in a 50 mile radius regularly...I'd say that made them experts.

ETA

I just checked my profile to make sure I didn't list myself as an expert in anything stupid or inappropriate....whew...all is good!!! LOL

Choices choices. I don't know whether to get the one I can't smell or the one that doesn't act like Ricky Gervais.
