YES!!!!! (Note the five.)

DarkSteven -> RE: Loud cell-phone talker removed from quiet car by police (5/18/2011 8:04:32 PM)

She felt "disrespected" by the incident.

Of course you felt that way, dummy.  It was earned disrespect.

TheHeretic -> RE: Loud cell-phone talker removed from quiet car by police (5/18/2011 8:18:55 PM)

And a lot of people are afraid to say anything, no matter how bad the situation gets. Remember the guy who asked the woman in the movie theater not to yak on her phone, only to have woman's date come back in to stab him in the head with a metal spike?

No, I missed that story. How awful!

What number do I call for people like that at the gym???

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: Loud cell-phone talker removed from quiet car by police (5/18/2011 8:39:18 PM)

Obviously these people were afraid to say anything to this woman, since nobody did for 16 hours. I don't have that much patience. I do like the idea that she be sentenced off-planet!!

TheHeretic -> RE: Loud cell-phone talker removed from quiet car by police (5/18/2011 9:44:53 PM)

Google has illustrated that the story didn't play big, nationally, so there is plenty of excuse not to remember, DC.

I was on an Amtrak bus a couple of years ago, it was the middle of the day, and we had not even pulled out of Union Station yet. This older woman had a few phone calls about whether or not she was going to make it in time for some Christmas parade that night. I guess she was some sort of sponsor, or something.... Anyways, we had not even left yet when this bitch in front of her turns around and says in a snotty voice " I HOPE you do not plan on talking all the way to Bakersfield, I am TRYING to sleep".

This poor elderly lady felt she had to justify why she was talking on her phone for a few minutes to let people know what time she would be arriving and that Amtrak was on schedule. I told the this snot, "The entire back of the bus is open, why don't you move"... she says.... "I don't want to"... so I said..."Well, I think I might wanna talk on my phone too"

I realize some people are really rude with their phones, and this was a quiet car. At the same time, what is the difference between talking in a normal voice on the phone, and talking to someone sitting next to you, and why is one wrong, but not the other? I haven't gotten that one yet

tazzygirl -> RE: Loud cell-phone talker removed from quiet car by police (5/18/2011 9:49:56 PM)

By the time I get off the bus, I have heard at least 4 conversations about somebody's daddy's baby's momma, ect ect. I even sat once and listened to a drug deal going down... the woman was so loud and didnt care when people told her to stop that because kids were on the bus. Well, wouldnt you know the police had decided to take a trip on the bus that day. When she and her bf got off at the stop, so did the cop, and he flashes us his badge as he left with a grin.

I think the main problem is that a lot of people tend to talk quite loudly on cell phones for some reason. My ex MIL could be heard in the next county when she was on hers.

If Im in the front of the bus and I can hear your conversation while you are sitting in the back of the bus... you are too loud.

I tend to talk quietly and encourage the other person to do most of the talking when I am on my cell

I don't know about the battery but let me introduce you to my ex-wife.

Sixteen hours would be a brief chat.

Sorry, it's a quiet car. No phones.
That broad would have felt a whole lot more "disrespected" if I had been on the car.
I'd have started nice, but if she had gotten an attitude things would have gone downhill quickly.

My question is why in the world did they wait 16 (!!!) hours before getting a conductor...or are conductors simply that powerless?

I was wondering who timed her

Because some people have this tendency to shout into their phones instead of talking in a normal voice.

I was in a grocery store the other day and one woman could be heard all over the store.

People were just shaking their heads and laughing.

Try sitting in a 7x7 ft. break room with no windows while someone carries on a loud conversation in Mandarin Chinese [&:]

Did it last night at work.
