Well, my folks told me that Australia is much the same with the drugstore policies. i'm okay with not being able to get caffeine and naproxin without a script, so long as Mnt.Dew is still readily available and not rationed. i see myself coming out ahead on the swap.

Not that i'm saying that Canada and Australia are much alike. Nope. Just that the government controlled substances seem similar.

Chaos wants to see Australia, i do not. i've seen pictures, i'm good. It's hot, there's dirt, an abundance of reptiles that are hazardous to your well being, and bugs that can carry you away. Someone didn't that the hint that the Gods do not want us want us there.

Fae, of course they took the hint. That's why the British used it as a penal colony for so long. I can't explain the aboriginal peoples though. They must be a tough people.

And yes, we have Mountain Dew in Canada, but I was under the impression that it is a slightly different recipe here, due to the food guidlines. I don't know for sure though. Same with Coke. I know that Canadian Coke tastes different than American Coke.

Mountain Dew is different here too. i suspect they're using an artificial sweetner, but i can't read hungul, so i may never know.
Every now and then you'll find a can advertising, " Orginal American Style Taste "...

i admire people that can survive in troublesome regions, i'm just not one of them. Even Canada is a little iffy, factoring the cold.

I have a cold and my chest hurts from coughing. Therefore, I am taking the win as consolation.

No caffeine in Canadian Mt. Dew.

And yet Canadian Coke and Pepsi and Dr. Pepper all have it. You and me, we live in a messed up country.

You might not be able to get Mountain Dew with caffeine, but you can buy caffeine tablets from the drug store of the shelf.

Oh, and Sylvere, I'm okay with the win staying with you if you are sick. Let it comfort you, tuck you in, and cuddle with you, stroking your hair.... Hope you feel better soon.

Oh yes, i have a new question about Canada.
Do your people know how to behave themselves in a supermarket?
In general, Americans will not behave properly in such venues. Their reasons are beyond me, it's not like it's hard.
It seems there are two methods by which they shop.
One, they stroll along on their cellphones, often having loud conversations that one shouldn't share with the public, not paying any attention to whom they might be about to collide into.
And the other, is to shop with mallicious intent. They are on a mission and woe apon anyone that stands betwist them and the cookie aisle.

i grocery shop with a list in the general order of my path through the store. Most of the time it works out OK without backtracking.

i dart all over the place like a caffeinated hummingbird.
Oh, this shiny thing reminds me i need tin foil. This frozen dinner reminds me i need green onions. These tomatos remind me i need a new stick of lip liner...
However, i try to be courteous to my fellow shoppers. i move in such a way that i present no danger of colliding into anyone else with a three hundred pound shopping buggy.

And as for the shopping here, I have if it's not busy, most people are considerate. I've had people let me go ahead of them at the checkout when I only had one or two items. But I've also seen it nasty as hell, on days like boxing day. I used to work retail, and I now hate going to malls, especially on big sale days. I can't stand the crush of people. It's also better in the grocery stores than in the malls. Too many self-absorbed teenager in malls.

i've seen the same on t-shirts.

Sounds like it is little to no better in that matter over the border. Maybe it's a North American thing.

Probably. It seems to me that Europeans are much better at relaxing and not taking things too seriously all the time. North Americans are much more go go go, not stopping until everything is done.

The only positive feature to Wal-Mart is that it is open 24hrs a day, and one can go shopping at 3am while the unpleasant masses sleep.

i'm looking forward to the 5th, that's when we get our household goods. We've been managing the house with the bare essentials since October.
Some clothing and linens, some cheap cookware and a few dishes, and our laptops, these are the items we've had to suffice.
One can only get so much into a couple of suitcases and carry-on. Then you get here and you don't want to spend a ton of money on stuff that you'll have in a couple of months...

Then on the 6th i get to see a glorified babycatcher to take over the treatment of my endometriosis. Oh goody.
" Well, we figured out what's the trouble with your uterus. You seem to be missing a fetus. Are you some kind of freak? "
