Hillwilliam -> Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 10:36:12 AM)

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20055274-503544.htmlhttp://feeds.cbsnews.com/~r/CBSNewsHorserace/~3/10JH1pXrcZU/8301-503544_162-20055274-503544.html

Ive posted the whole article, not just cherry picked.

A few highlights.

He wants his own version of "universal healthcare"

He has called for a one time 14.25% tax on individuals and trusts with a net worth over 10 Million. (can you say redistribution of wealth?)

He wants to raise taxes.

Oh yeah, he wants to see Obama's birth certificate. I guess it's that last that qualifies him as a Republican.

Mezrem -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 10:42:19 AM)

In short, no he's not. As to him having the belief that Obama is anything but a US citizen, that makes him a nut case, not a republican. The birther argument was weak when it was first made and now it's tired and weak.

housesub4you -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 10:51:56 AM)

No he is nothing more than a person getting as much media coverage to boost his ever lowering ratings for his TV show.  It's all just show and nothing more

So sorry, I assumed that anyone on these boards was intelligent enough to move the cursor over the link and twitch their forefinger.

I can see I was wrong. [:D]

Another Brainiac leftist...  [:D]

thishereboi -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 11:19:39 AM)

No, the last one classifies him as an idiot[8D]

Sanity -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 11:30:52 AM)

No, it rather makes him an idiot, which makes you an idiots sycophant  [8D][:D][;)][:)]

luckydawg -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 11:34:41 AM)

what a bizzare definition of chery picking.

Trump did supoport that stuff in the past.

But in the article he clearly says,

"On ABC, Trump said of his support for universal health care, "It's a long time ago. It's 11 or 12 years ago. And frankly, a lot of people agreed with it. A lot of conservative Republicans agreed with it, at that time. We have a different country today. We can't afford things that we could have afforded or that we thought we could afford many years ago."

"My plan now is to number one get rid of Obamacare," Trump added."

Also in the article,

"In his book, Trump also called for a one-time, 14.25 percent tax on individuals and trusts with a net worth over $10 million, which the Club for Growth called "a massive tax hike on Americans that would kill jobs and investment."

Trump explained that position by again citing the changed economic climate.

"Now, we're at a point where we are so fragile and so week economically as - as a country, it's a very, very scary thing," he said. "The last thing you can be do - is - doing is raising taxes." "

So in fact he does not want a Universal Health care system or to raise taxes.

The OP is simply a lie.

Pointing this out in no way makes me a Trump supporter, simply a supporter of the truth.

And what does cherry picking mean other than pulling a few out of context fragments, from something in an attempt to make it seem like something other than what was actually said?

Pretty funny sanity. Whining on another topic about someone attacking you and what do you do here? attack.

Back to the topic which you haven't touched.

How is a leftist against new taxes, single payer healthcare and redistribution of wealth?

I asked that in case you wanted to, for once, comment on a topic instead of attacking the messenger.

Sanity -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 11:46:11 AM)

Get real, Bill, get a grip on your sanity. The way you come after me like a rabid skunk you dont REALLY expect me to treat you with kid gloves, do you? [:D]

Especially when your monumental fuck up in the OP of this thread was a thinly veiled stab at me why should I have even tried to resist pointing out how you diont know the difference between posting a link and posting an entire article.

I would really love to see your thoughts on him as a potential Republican President, Sanity.

pahunkboy -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 1:42:22 PM)

Most Republicans are trillionairs.

The Rush show hasn't been on yet so he prob has no thoughts.

Sanity -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 2:41:04 PM)

What I see in of Trump is, he is kinda flaky, not a serious candidate. But its noteworthy that he is shaking things up some, stirring the pot. Ive seen the liberal talking heads on CNN aghast that he dares to say the emperor has no clothes and it cracked me up.

I hope that whoever wins the RNC nomination has half the balls that Trump has, but unlike Trump also has the brains to match.

I couldnt agree more with everything you just stated. He is shaking things up, but making more of an idiot of himself with every shake.

Now, THAT is a worthwhile, on topic post that I happen to agree with.
Unfortunately, I dont see the RNC coming up with anyone to fit your description so I guess we're stuck with 4 more years of same old same old.

Sanity -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 3:08:42 PM)

Its amazing who can find common ground where sometimes.

I have no idea who will win the nomination, maybe Pawlenty. Doesnt matter what speculation is at this point though, doesnt matter what the polls say. It is still way too early, anything can happen and any dark horse can charge to the front of the pack, someone could even emerge to challenge Obama in the DNC, you just never know.

I dont imagine we will see anyone but Obama from the Dems. The Republicans may pull out an unknown dark horse yet. Only time will tell, and like Sanity said, its too soon to speculate.

luckydawg -> RE: Is Trump REALLY a Republican? (4/20/2011 3:57:39 PM)

I didn't think that Dems actually want to close Guantamano and not engage in foriegn conflicts with out congress's approval. They are gonna go for Obama again.
