I have a story I'm submitting to a contest that's a bit over 14,000 words. It has to go in by the end of the month. If you have a kindle or ebook reader you can preview it at http://www.amazon.com/John-Abbot-ebook/dp/B003ZK5KIO/ref=sr_1_34?ie=UTF8&qid=1301145548&sr=8-34

:If not, a preview is also available on Smashwords at http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/21634 .

I'm looking for another set of eyes to look over both editorial and the story/plot. There's no reason to buy anything. If you're interested, shoot me an email and I'll send you a copy in MS Word.

Thanks in advance.

They would only give me nine pages, so I can't really comment on the plot. Nice buildup, very expressive and detailed. It seems to jump around a bit but as in many works, it likely falls together later.

I would say - so far so good. One day I wouldn't mind reading the whole thing, but I just had eye surgery and have alot of catching up to do. There is also the fact that I am old school, I like dead trees. Actually I like live ones better but to me, laying down in bed and reading, barely getting the bookmark in place before actually nodding off is more my style. A few times I have actually printed books, which is why I bought a laser printer. Reading the screen on a PC or anything really just doesn't quite do it for me.

I do make an exception for fora such as these though, because the interactivity outweighs what I see as a disadvantage. And in a way it was nice, because deep in the bowels of my mind is the making of a yet untold story. Perhaps I will be impelled to write this year.

If it were shorter, I'd do it, I'm about edited out! I just finished editing a half a dozen academic articles and I think my brain is bleeding out my eyes.

Good luck though! I recently submitted to something due same time. OOOooo... maybe it is the same publication and we will both be accepted and our stories can be like adopted siblings.....

Actually what I saw didn't need editing. Just opinions.

Thanks Term. If you want to read the rest, let me know. I can send you the full word doc. Finding someone to give you a straight up opinion is difficult among family and friends. :)
