To add to what's been said as well....
If I don't want something used on me that was used on someone else, I make sure to bring my own.  (I have a special set of paddles that are for me and me alone)

This is exactly why a lot of bottoms and s-types have certain things that are their own.  Restraints, handcuffs, etc, if they don't want something that's been used on another person, that's the way to go.  Most rope enthusiasts that I know don't have separate rope for everybody that they tie up.  It gets washed.  Any toy that only comes in contact with sweat (not other body fluids) basically get sorted into the 'can be cleaned' pile.

Other body fluids and any toy that is inserted in any way, I believe should be one person use.  I might be in the minority when it comes to the strap-on/anal plug category.  They can be cleaned, but it's My personal preference.  I know I wouldn't really want a vibrator used on Me that's been used on someone else, so I tend to think of it in those terms.

This. All of it.
I have my own toybag and all of my own insertables for a reason.
I also made my own cuffs because I dislike the thought of wearing a set that have been soaked in someone else's sweat. Health issues aside, it just squicks me.

I'll second that one, I just prefer not to have others dried sweat etc next to my own skin.

But since I really do not play casually....let me rephrase that...I do not scene or have casual sex usually so keeping my own stuff seperate has never really been a problem. In todays world it behooves us to be really really careful about casual contact with body fluids.

I say keeping your own toy bag is a marvelous idea for anyone.

I think the concept of a submissive owning her own personal set of toys is an excellent idea. And I totally understand the reluctance of some to have any item used on them that was used on another either casually or in a relationship. Seems like this would severely hinder the solicitation of assistants during demos but I digress.

I have spent literally thousands of dollars on my toy chest. Things I have been accumulating for over a decade. If I am to escort all of that to the local landfill at the end of a relationship would I then be out of line by handing my next playmate a shopping list of the things I will require? Maybe a thread devoted to toy lists and how much they cost would be a fun eye opener.

In regard to the submissive who carries her own toys and the concept of not wanting something used on you that was used on someone else... particularly in regard to the psychological/emotional aspect of it as opposed to the health aspect: What happens when you meet a dominant who says "Oh, I refuse to use that flogger on you that was used on you by Dom X. That creeps me out."

Then said Dom or Top and said submissive need to go buy a set of toys together.

I buy insertables with her in mind, after getting to know what works for her. I make most of the restraints I use, and they're definitely made with her in mind. It's not the same degree of severity, but it's like taking back and re-using a wedding ring. It just doesn't feel right to me. It's not as if they're a symbol of the relationship. But they're certainly an intimate, personal element.

This isn't 'a glass dildo I keep in my nightstand', it's 'the ringed glass dildo I bought for use on Sarah'. These aren't 'some cuffs and anklets I keep onhand' but rather 'the buffalo and brushed bronze cuffs and anklets I made for Megan'.

I only have one sub. I suppose if I had more than one or topped friends at the club I might have to restrict my activities to ... I'm not sure. Even the flogger is sorta part of the relationship so how does one share that? I guess as a single Dom I might relate to this more cause I realize there are Doms who are in demand by multiple subs and must restrict themselves, I suppose, to using floggers and canes and things readily cleaned. How does one clean a flogger to be completely free of any cross-sub mark swaps? (I just made up the word "cross-sub mark swaps". Anyone need the definition?). Seriously, I'd hate to damage a great flogger by disinfecting it.
