Well we know that the noble law was subsidzed lumber from national forests. Let's not forget why society exists. But you do have it right....it's a matter of nature that 90% are poor and paying for the rich.

So just as the Oaks shade the sun, the rich are entitled to our money. God made you one of John Locke's inferior people or Adam Smith's 'labor race' and has spoken...there shall be soclaism for the rich and capitalism for the poor.

Society exists so that I don't start hunting conservatives.

If your aim is as bad as your logic, we have no fear.

Mother Jones has crunched the numbers, and discovered what most of us already knew. The Class War is nearly over, and the rich won.

Even if the dumb fucks who voted in the Teabaggers and Refucks were to suddenly put 2+2 together, and figure out that there's a direct correlation between their voting preferences, and their finances, it won't do any good.

The Middle Class has been destroyed in the US.

good, move somewhere where things are more balanced, and far worse than here for far more people

That will be the great sucking sound of the future, people moving to a country where people come before money. Businesses will leave because their customers have left.

I am looking at Canada, Germany or a cheap island somewhere. I wonder how PR is ? Nice weather for sure.

Myself an my generation have a large bill to pay that, to this day, no one wants to ackowledge and pay. The mantra you here is no raise in taxes and we can save ourselves into prosperity. Simply not going to happen.

Yes Mark Zuckerberg is my age...but I don't know anyone that went to Philips Exeter or Harvard......To me it is simply a replay of the generations that came before.

As for myself.....I don't need a lot so I will just fine.

Funny thing is that the Republicans and most of the citizens who are on the right dont give a flying fuck about anyone making less than $250 K a year.

Funny thing about revolutions, they are usually caused when there is a perceived inequality in the society.

I have always maintained that the next civil war in the states will be along class lines, and considering there are more lower and lower middle class people in this country, the rich are going to be fucked.

I don't know, the rich can afford more guns.

LP,

While DYB has tilted off his rocker it does seem that in ways we've fallen back to the Robber Barons.

Corporate America in many cases has outsourced and moved offshore not because it was necessary for survival but to make the most profit.  This in turn was meant to drive the stock price so they can make a killing on their options.

The demise of places like Bell Labs hasn't helped.  Too many corporations have slashed R & D content to let others in places like China and Japan hold the designs and advances.

There are too many cases where we've sold down the river to increase the stock price.

I could take the easy shot on that first sentence, but I'll pass for now.  I'll keep that one to Myself.

I think the rest of what you've written here is on target.  However, as much as folks want to lay blame about what permits the situation to exist (policies, etc) we have to look at the drive in human nature that promotes them to exist.  It is selfishness and greed.  Plain and simple.  All I did was say that there is absolutely a portion of folks who will actually admit it, rather than try to come off as though they are humanitarian of the year.

Even looking at My own life, I'm not giving up (what I consider) My luxuries for the sake of the greater good.  My second car, My cell phone, and My computer are no different than private jets, vacation homes, and exotic vacations are to those who are on the larger scale.  It's just easier to throw rocks at bigger targets.

I know a lot of "poor" (making between 40 and 60 k a year) who own guns.

flcouple2009 -> RE: It's The Inequality, Stupid (2/24/2011 12:34:23 PM)

LP,

Your right on target.  It is about nothing but pure greed.  That greed has also destroyed the manufacturing base in this country.  It's not limited to the board room and CEO's.  Greed on the part of the auto unions helped drive that industry into the ground.

The rest is apples and oranges.  When did your choice of luxury item shut down a town?  It's just not comparable to the Board of of Directors and CEO who shutter a town because they decide to move things overseas.  All too drive up the stock price before they cash out.

We're back to the Robber Barons.  Nothing matters but collecting wealth.

Where does being an American come in? Where does it matter? Or does it matter at all.....is it just a good Ad campaign by the rich to keep us all wanting?

Do US corporations have any responsibility to its citizens? Is it important for them to employ their countrymen? To give back to your country? To say to shareholders...hold on....It is in our best interest as Americans to have our plants here and lower our expectations.....

isoLadyOwner -> RE: It's The Inequality, Stupid (2/24/2011 12:53:31 PM)

The Government has always used fear to polarize or unite citizens. Traditionally the fear requires a war against something.

Any war will usually do but times are extraordinary. In the past things like the Cold War, the Drug War, or even traditional military conflict (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan etc) would keep people distracted.

Now the right seems to be at war with the left and vice versa.

Meanwhile jobs are being exported daily.

Bush 1 moved towards NAFTA but it could have been stopped when Clinton took Office. Instead the Democrats made it happen. The Corporations wanted globalization and both parties gave it to them. Job loss was going to follow globalization and Democrats and Republicans know it. Corporations tend to get what they want.

Posted earlier under an extraneous profile I thought had been lost.

Do Me another favor.  Statements like the highlighted about don't necessarily apply to "us all".  What is it that you feel you are being denied?

Sounds like something that has to be decided depending on the moral compass.  Something else that you can't dictate.

If I were running a corporation, it would be My job to increase benefits and profits to the shareholders.  I'm guessing some of those folks are American citizens, too.  The difference is, they would be the ones that the company is looking out for in exchange for the investment that they made at some point or another.  That's the goal.

Would it be 'nice' of them to make less money to keep jobs here?  Sure it would!  Do I expect it, or even worse, think they owe it to Me to do so?  Nope.

The statement highlighted doesn't say anything about being denied anything. Just pointing out and your last response supports it that being an "American" is really nothing more than a good Advert campaign by a bunch of richies to keep us all in place. Worrying about our borders and guns while they are ripping us off....But don't worry,,,,you'll get yours

[. A, truly, progressive tax structure would tax those who make the most significantly more than those in the middle class.

Yeah the top 5% paying 60% of the taxes isnt enough. You might want to read about killing the golden goose, idiot.

If the top 5% hold more than 60% of society's wealth then it is fairly obviously too little. Since they do, 62% in 2007 and certainly higher today, it is obvious that the top marginal rate is too low.

There are two sides: management and unions. I agree the unions had some part of it but I do not believe the unions are to be blamed for car industry failures. It was just bad management of the companies. Also, do not forget,  all USA car companies had financial businesses attached that suffered huge losses (also management issue). The same with teachers unions: the government has no obligation to satisfy their demands, everything is negotiated. The unions in Wisconsin perhaps got too much, but if to honestly analyze the situation, the median teachers income was about the national average.  The news media spreads lies about the situation. For example, I saw the news Wisconsin teachers make 100K a year. The truth of course is the median wage of the experienced elementary school teacher is about 50K and everybody else makes less down to 24K for teaching assistants.
Greed is always part of the business environment. It did not destroy the manufacturing in the USA. The US industrial base was (and is currently) destroyed by government policies ("neo-liberal globalization").
I do not think changing a little tax policies or some kind of infrastructure projects could lead America into bright future. I did follow the news about the fall of the Soviet Union during the collapse 1990. It had very similar characteristics to USA today. Most of the population was poor living paycheck to paycheck. Relatively speaking US workers move towards similar situation or worse, as the employment itself becomes a privilege. The government used oil revenues and huge security apparatus to keep the population relatively quiet. The US government just sells T Bonds to Chinese, Arabs, Japanese and others.  The industry in the USSR was owned by the state, but every huge state owned monopoly top bureaucracy was well off compared to the rest of the population. If we would just rename Microsoft The Ministry of Software we would have a direct similarity. They had Gorbatchev who thought the system can be reformed with small changes. We have Obama with similar ideas. The USSR was also in war in Afganistan. Then, there were US and other think tanks proposing solutions for the USSR. Predominantly the proposed models were Chinese type with special free trade industrial regions and such. What was missed was that the whole system was totally corrupt and not able to introduce any reforms. Then Boris Yeltsin came and finished it off. How can the US corporate government solve the problems?
I predict something similar to the USSR  will happen to US. The coming financial collapse perhaps will be the turning point.  The creative destruction will reset the economic field. Ron Paul would fit the Yeltsin character role. There has been huge security apparatus and prison system build-up in the US,  but it is hard to imagine totalitarian system. In the Soviet Union the army and huge security system was totally useless dealing with the collapse. It is even more in America as people would simply not adapt to totalitarian measures. Although, elites  may try it.  An another impressive false flag attack could be in preparation.

Hey, look at that!  We actually agree on something!  You can try to make it look differently in any way you'd like.  I'll keep sitting here saying that I don't have any shame in saying that Me and Mine come first in My priority lines.  I'm not going to apologize for it either.

Either that, or I just don't begrudge other people for having the same philosophy.  They need to decide for themselves how they want to handle their own affairs.  Nobody owes Me a thing that I didn't work for.
