Yes, lovely.  They say the polar shift has begun to hit the fan also.

In the past these things were not so ominous. They charge the ionosphere somehow and make "skip" radio transmission possible at certain frequencies. This is what could enable a guy in a truck to talk to someone 800 miles away on a five watt CB radio. It was also probably what enabled me to pick up a TV station in Willowick, Ohio from Florida, with an antenna that had blown down in the wind, I guess it was pointing up.

Really, the only thing that will happen is that communications will be strange. There will be some lost signals, but for the most part they won't be lost. They will be in a sea of "skip" and if not for spread spectrum technology, you could expect to hear someone on your cellphone who is in bumfukt China or something. This will probably be happening with analog communications during this time. Ham and CB working REALLY well, getting stations on the radio you never heard of, things like that.

Actually skip transmission is illegal, but they overlook it if they deem that it was unintentional. It is used legally on the shortwave band, which requires a license.

Almost makes me wish I had a radiio. I could be listening to a station in Kansas or something.

T^T

Having a ham radio would be great after an EMP.

One thing about the Amish though, they are for the most part digital doomsday-proof.

I asked my neighbor to build me a Faraday cage for my computers and equipment since he collects wires and strips n sells the copper.

He unfortunately doesn't understand the science so I think I have to do it myself.  Uhhg, I can do it, but really don't wanna do any 'tool' stuff, blaa.

Kinda like Gilligan getting radio through his fillings. hehe, yep yep. I can see that.

Radio waves will become so random and in flux it will be madness, speaking of that....we need Marty's flux capacitor it just might work!!

When I ws young I used to DX TV. We had an RCA with what was caled a nuvista tuner. It used a nuvistor type tube in the tuner, a new design that gave it superior sensitivity. From Cleveland, we had no problem getting CFPL in Canada, and a few others up there, and Detroit was no problem. Toledo was a piece of cake. I got Pennsylvania a time or two, but not consistently. But that was analog TV.

I also tried to get the best FM recievers or tuners. I know the difference between the uV rating and the impedance, which will be 75 or 300. I also know about the "quieting curve". I persued this, for no other reason but desire.. It never made me a dime. Well I did give some pretty sharp advice on the subject on the net recently, but still no dime.

Just so hapens my hillbilly was over tonight and he was saying that I should put up an 11 meter antenna in the back, and he would supply it, tower and everyhing. He wants me to go into CB radios and such, maybe I should. I wonder how long this solar flare effect wll last. I'll have to hit wiki and figure out all that. Sidereal year, rotation rate of the sun, ba da bing, ba da boom.

Yeah, I am in CFPL territory, London is 100mi due North across the lake.  We can practically spit on Cleveland (not that they'd notice) ahah.

But the flares are supposed to go on (and off), stronger and stronger for months and even in the year to come.

I am kinda glad I packed on a lil weight this winter, my biggest fear is the any anti-gravity goings on and I float away and can no longer reach my beer!

Why not print him out a picture of a Faraday cage so he knows what it needs to look like, and give him the dimensions.

Ha.  Well, I tried to explain it to him.  He isn't the smartest bulb but he has most of the materials that I said I'd just buy off him for going-rate.

He didn't understand the premise of it, the concept, nor the basics for me wanting to build custom sized mesh.

He did look at me though like I was planning on building a rocket or an explosive and he wanted no part of it. LOL eesh  He is so paranoid now, he won't even sell me the copper. HA.

That's interesting, because about an hour or so ago, my satellite tv started acting kind of erratic....different stations coming in for a minute or two on the same channel, and the remote was in plain view, no 4-legged resident here had walked over it like they usually do. That's never happened before. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now I wonder if that's what did it?
